Play about 30-50 random games and choose race which you like most. Watch a lot replays of this race, study strategies.

thanks a lot for the replies so far, but i got another question now, I've played a couple of games the other day and what i notice is that the hotkeys are shit (standard) and when browsing through my wc3 folder I found the file where the hotkeys are located and i understood shit of it, so i was wondering if there is a program or a text file that can help me set hot keys more easy. Anything could help. ty

You never played another RST ? Hmm it'll take a time. Personally I play SC so when I tried couple of WC3 games I found it rly easy (most of the things were similar). Guess it'll take a while ,just play some PCs and gl ^_^

most important in the beginning is in my opinion a "good" strategy.
learn the armor types and try to improve your micro then. but for the beginning train the right units! and ofc amke some single player games where you practice creeping and check out the creeproutes.

I'd start out by playing the campaign if I were you. It is not the most challenging, but it is a good way to learn the units and structures.

1. Play the campaign (if you got the time, if not just skip this)
2. Try to copy strategies from replays against the PC. I think you should start with orc as it is the easiest race on a low level.

3. After a few games, when you get used to micro\macro, try the other races against the computer and begin to focus on this race.

4. When you know the build order and some strategies for every matchup, begin to play online games.
If you like your race, just begin to train as much as possible and always watch some replays to be up to date with strategies.

It would be good if you ask some experienced players if they could train you.

If you want to, i could give you some tips, just ask over icq\msn. I havent been playing for one year now, but i used to play a lot and still know how to play ;)

Don't be affraid to try and play online, I remember I was. Thought like "I wouldn't have a chance on winning anyway", but that's the best practise when you know basic strategy, what all races/heroes/units do etc.

ye just start playing some games, but always check the replay after playing to see what you made good, or what mistakes made you lose
