Over the past few days some of the best Counter-Strike teams from across the whole of the Sweden have been fighting in the World Cyber Games Pre Qualifiers, so that they can gain a spot in the prestigious WCG Grand Final held later this year. This is actually the second Swedish pre qualifier held this year, with the first being played a few weeks ago.

Sk-Gaming return after being embarrassingly knocked out of the first Pre qualifier by underdogs underbar. However this time they will face much harder competition in the form of fnatic, currently the number one ranked team in Sweden, who recently took first place at GameGune 2007.

Both teams progressed out of their respective groups with too much trouble, aside from SK losing to Cold as ICE 18-12 on de_nuke. However they came back from this defeat by beating Lanheaven in two maps, 16:10 and 16:12. Fnatic also managed to win their first play-off game by taking out Evilzone again in two maps. It seems this victory made SK slightly complacent as they had serious trouble defeating Cold as ICE in the Semi-Finals, actually losing 2 maps to 1. However a later decision by the admins to deduct 3 rounds from their opponents due to the fact that they were caught using the flash-bug meant that SK narrowly went through to the finals.

The two Swedish powerhouses SK-Gaming and fnatic will now move on the World Cyber Games Swedish National Finals held later on in the year where they will face eachother for a spot in the Grand Finals.
