Due to the CGS buying the exclusive rights for broadcasting Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike footage on television, and because of the missing support of Valve for the broadcasting of Counter-Strike, GIGA1 will not be able to broadcast any more matches in the future.
When the CGS signed an exclusive contract with Valve, it was not yet clear what effects this deal would have on channels like GIGA. But now the effects are becoming obvious and could have big consequences for the channel.
The broadcasting of Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source via internet streams is still allowed, which means GIGA2 will still be able to broadcast matches. Jens Hilgers of GIGA will be trying to find a peaceful solution for this problem for next year, in the hope to get Counter-Strike back on their channel. It is also said that GIGA is considering making their GIGA2 channel free to compensate for the time being.
