Matt Marcou founded Verge Gaming two and a half years ago with Jon Mumm, and the team became big and known within 2 years. Matt, the manager and founder of the team managed teams from six different games (Counter-strike: Source, Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Warcraft III, Defense of the Ancient, and Dead or Alive) which were of course all playing under the Verge name.![]()
Since its birth in the early 2005, Verge Gaming have attended 32 live tournaments in 12 different countries and also supported 24 players located in 4 different countries.
We can also remember that Matt made a Counter-Strike:Source team which reached the top spots in Noth America, and we can also say that Verge Gaming is now known as a big name of the world wiide electronic sports scene.
The reasons that make Matt leaves the teams are none other than he is joining the well known team Pandemic.
Here is the official statement from Matt Marcou at Verge-Gaming.net:
“My departure from Verge Gaming may come as a shock to some, but I feel it is a natural move for me in order to progress my career and follow my ambitions,” said Marcou, “It was a very exciting time in my life and I will carry my experiences, knowledge, and friendships forward into my next position. It is difficult in many respects to leave behind something that I have created and brought to life with my own hard work and finances. However, I feel that I’ve reached some boundaries as far as what I am able to accomplish on my own. I know I can achieve greater things and bring more to the eSports industry with a stronger infrastructure and equally talented individuals around me. I’d like to thank all of those who helped me along in this journey of crafting one of the best eSports franchises in North America and the support from fans and friends that kept me going.”
“I’m extremely honored to say that I have found this new opportunity in Team Pandemic. My history with the team goes back to the early days of the Counter-strike: Source scene when Pandemic faced a young verGe at the very first Source tournaments. Since then I have developed a strong trust with Mark Dolven and Chris Lemley as well as a deep respect for what they have accomplished with Pandemic. Dolven is a tough act to follow, but I will give it my best in helping Chris bring the Pandemic brand to greater heights.”
Verge.CS-S roster now looks as follows:
Grant "Griff" Hall (Manager/Captain)
Andrew "Drew" Morehead
Mason "n0s4m" Dickens
Dan "railm0" Locilento
Ian "Royle" RoyleWe here at MeetYourMakers.com wish Matt Marcou and Verge-Gaming the best of luck for the future.

Although is it sad to see verGe take a step back, I can assure you I am very excited about this move. There just came a time for me when I realized what it would take a lot more to truly bring my vision to life. Unfortunately, i do not have the time and resources to do that on my own. Pandemic was following a very similar persuit to verGe's planned adjustments and they have a very strong infrastructure.
I'm looking forward to working with Chris Lemley from Pandemic and giving my all to Pandemic. ~Matt Marcou, Vice President, Pandemic - teampandemic.net
