Earlier this year
Fnatic added a Counter-Strike: Source team to their organization. The team are currently part of the Fnatic Academy are receive the same backing and support as the professionals but in less popular games.
Although Counter-Strike: Source is growing and becoming more and more popular it is still considered less popular than Counter-Strike, hence the team are part of the academy. The five Dutch men that make up the team have recently recieved two rankins within the top six team of the world which they have surely built on with their recent win at LAN 79.
Cadred caught up with
Sandor "Proph" de Munck to discuss the teams performances at LAN 79. They also briefly talk about the Championship Gaming Series and how the Fnatic organization effect the team.
How did you deal with the lack of sleep at the event, did it affect your playing?
Well it probably did, but not as much as you might think. When we start playing again we can get our adrenaline flowing easily and still play well, even though it was pretty hard sometimes. You had over 1500 spectators for your final match, the biggest a source game has ever seen; did this add any pressure on you?
It was very nice to see so many people were watching source TV, felt great to have so many people interested in us. As for the pressure, it didn’t add any extra pressure, I was even less nervous then I was for my previous games. We felt pretty confident we could win this thing so we just gave it our all, + we perform best under pressure!
