eSTRO expands to CS, signs project_kr

International e-Sports Group Inc. has signed with ‘project_kr’, who is currently ranked 7th internationally on 12th March 2007.

‘project_kr’ has proven themselves to be a world-class team with their many top results including: 2nd in WEG2005, 1st in CGEL, 3rd in WEG2006 Masters, 5th in WCG2006 and 6th in CPL2006. project_kr recently received the award of best Counter-Strike team in the ‘KeSPA2006 eSports award’ and has been representative of Korea for Counter-Strike.

eSTRO takes a step into international scene

After signing with ‘project_kr’, eSTRO has teams in Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike to become the number 1 global eSports Club.

Counter-Strike is an official game for 4 major eSports tournaments such as CPL, ESWC, WCG and KODE5. Counter-Strike is the leading FPS game with 10 million dollars worth of prize money given out worldwide.

This is the first time that a Korean organization has had not only StarCraft but WarCraft3 and Counter-Strike in Korea’s e-sports history. The newly formed eSTRO Counter-Strike team will be moving into a new practice house in the heart of Seoul and will prepare to take its first step to become one of the world’s best teams by competing in the ‘WCG Asian Championship’.

The CEO of IEG (Mr. Mitchell Hong) said “eSTRO will strive to be the best eSports club team by raising the bar not only in Starcraft (most popular game in Korea) but also international games such as Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike. Everyone should welcome project_kr to their new home in eSTRO and support them in every event they attend.
