Streetrunner of GamingJunky has sat down with American Dueler,
Evan "Nomadic" Bradshaw. Nomadic has been a strong dueler in North America for sometime now. He has shown to be one of Quake 4's top compeititors this year as he is 10th on the WSVG Points list. Streetrunner talks with Bradshaw about why he is leaving the gaming scene and about the money that is involved as well. You can find a snippet from the interview below:
Streetrunner - Evan, thank you for talking with me during what must be a very disappointing time I'm sure. What is going on with you and gaming?
Nomadic - The fact is simply, that I'm heartbroken. I'm being torn away from doing something that I love to do.
Streetrunner - Why?
Nomadic - Because of all things, money. In my situation, I'm ranked 10th on WSVG points system, 10th. 10th place unfortunately hasn't earned me a dime, and the cold fact is, unless you're 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the world, you're still not going to be making much, unless your name is sK|Toxic or Fatal1ty. Prize pots that payout only to the top3 as far as 5k to 1st, 2.5k to 2nd, and 1k to 3rd. It's pretty hard to stick around if you're there just for the money (obviously most everyone isn't). But it is inevitable, that within the troubles of finding a decent sponsor (even if you are within the top 16) it can be quite grueling. Financially speaking, unless you are able to pay your own way to each event, but to keep up with the time it takes to train, and be available to compete... not so easy when you also have to work full-time.
It is sad to hear that the Quake scene is losing another great dueler due to lack of sponsors and money. MYM would like to wish Nomadic the best of luck in whatever he pursues after gaming. You can find the full interview HERE
