With an idea set into the works a while back Blizzard has been teasing a community here and there with Sandlot updates on a rather unknown pattern. Yesterday they announced
23 more players bringing the count up to 64, all you have to say when looking at this list is "Here comes the Koreans!"
Krupnick "White_ra" Aleksey Sergey "Pomi" Rodionov Rob "Strafe" Verspui Vakhtang "Ex" Zakiev Alexander "Notforu" Davydov Rafal "Paranoid" Kontowicz Chang-gyu "Siz)o.ov" Hwang Seung-hun "sonjjang" Song Jae-young "Tempest)Is(" Park Ju-hyun "Sea.Pie" Park Hak-jou "Polaris[Arnc]" Kim Hyun-sik "Only[S.G]" Jung Myung-hoon "Siz)FanTaSy"Jung Chul-min "Sea.FinePix" Bae Yong-sam "Nal_Paris" Shin Hee-jong "Sea.Jang" Shin Jae-uk "Kosiro[Shield]" Lee Sung-shik "Zergstory_Namoo" Hwang Young-hoon "Siz)cOzy" Han Soyun "Active" Jung Dong-hyuk "Nal_keke" Lim Minglu "Super" Zhang Luo "Lx" Xian | |
That list is nothing short of great players, but Blizzard did not stop there. They also announced the final two websites that will be taking part of this $20,000 online tournament.
PGR21.com - Often battling it out with FiFo (FighterForum) on who has the most indepth coverage, PGR21 runs it's own ProGaming Ladder. They will be represented by
Hangzri who will by going after the prizes that blizzard has annoucned.
Reps.ru - With a database of replays from the best across the globe, Reps.ru which also plays part in Team Russia will be joining in the hunt for $20,000. Being led by
PILAT you can be sure he'll know who to pick and which players to turn away from.
Wait, we're not done though in the last while Blizzard has updated the FAQ section of the Sandlot website.
- They changed the player count from 80 to 64, in doing that it means on average 8 players per team instead of 10. Making everything just a little less confusing and giving each player a better chance to play.
- A very cool idea they had for gameplay has been removed, and changed to Seeds. So the #1 of team A will play the #1 of team B etc...
- We get our first look at the map pool, which Blizzard has decided to go with 5 on the main page and 4 on the FAQ.
- Rush Hour III (3.03)
- Ride fo the Valyries
- Gaia 1.0
- Neo Forte (2.1)
- The prize distribution is now known, I must admit it's one unique way of doing it. As quoted from the FAQ page.
1st Prize - $1000 will be awarded to each player on the winning team
- $1000 will be awarded to their coach
2nd
- $500 will be awarded to each player on the team that comes in second place
- $500 will be awarded to their coach
Other
- $500 will be awarded to each team MVP (the player who wins the most maps)
- $200 will be awarded to the winners of the Best Overall Games
There's still one more thing that Blizzard announced. The start of the Team's Logo contest, if you haven't been following here at MYM about the Sandlot here's a little repeat for you.
- A logo design contest to determine which team picks first. The order of the draft will be decided by what teams have the best logos. Also the team with the best logo may get a bonus in their mineral count.
