Sports Map Contest Winners

We are in a time when Gaming can be considered a sport. Blizzard, however decided to take a slightly different route in their recent competition called "Sports Map Submission Contest". The idea was to involve a real professional sport and incorporate it successfully into a Warcraft 3 map. Judged under many different rules, the Winners have finally been announced.

The winners were

golTaking first place and named GolfCraft, it's a little obvious which sport this map is modelled after. The winner gets to choose from 3 neat packages, each being spectacular in their own respect. You can download this map here.

boomArmed with a crosshair, it's a little unclear what you have to do in the start, however with a name like MyBoomStick, you can be sure this is a map you would want to try out! Grab the download here.

fristFrisbees and Warcraft always go good together and this place take place 3 in the competition. The winner here gets to choose from the last remaining package. This map is available here.

3 other maps fell into the Honourable Mentions category and they can be downloaded by clicking on their map names.

The prizes that the winners get are quite attractive and are distributed as 3 packages with the first place winner choosing any one from the 3. The Runner up chooses from the remaining 2 and the 3rd place winner takes what's left. The prizes were

  • Prize Package Number One: (1) 1GB Advanced Dual Channel Kit from Centon ®, one (1) Multi-Hub™ from Nyko®, and one (1) Razer™ Diamondback™ mouse with an approximate retail value of $227.00 USD.
  • Prize Package Number Two: (1) Windows® XP Professional and (1) Nyko® Air-Flo® PC Controller with an approximate retail value of $265.00 USD.
  • Prize Package Number 3: (1) D-Link® Gaming Router and (1) Windows® XP Home with an approximate retail value of $309.00 USD
