The biggest weekly and international Warcraft 3 tournament, the InCup, just announced that there will be a special surprise for all German participants in this Spring season: at the end of the season, the highest ranked german in the season ranking will get a spot in the
WCG national final in september, and therefore have the chance to qualify for the grand final, taking place in
Monza. This decision will have no effect on the InCup tournament itself.
Here is what
Ownitsch, InCup head-admin, has to say:
As we are running the biggest online tournament in the world very successfull for some time now, it became more and more hard to introduce something new to the weekly cups to make all fans pleased by a continous development and growth of the tournament itself. Although inCup has grown more and more international in the last months we never forgot our roots in the german scene and are happy to support it now by the partnership with WCG Germany. I hope this will push the german warcraft scene a bit to open itself towards international competition and will stop reposing the players on their (too) good national league support. Shoutout to the whole WCG Staff, the inCup admin team and of course to Speed-Link for making all this possible. |
The first InCup of the spring season took place last sunday, but nine more are upcoming, with the grand final being on July 23rd.

But would be nice to some people like Spell, Miou playing there. | |

Well, it's only a spot for the national finale @ Germany, so it seems fair enough to let the most stabil player of the season participate. At the same time we might see more german players in the incup, which is not bad either.

In Warcraft 3, there are few times when seasoned pros suddenly lose their touch or fade out of the limelight without permanent retirement. And while we had our share of goodbyes in 2008, it has been t...
