WCG Korea

WorldCyberGames.jpgAt last the time has come for the land of  Korea to decide who is to represent the country at the upcoming WCG 2005 in  Singapore. Korea is, unfortunately, only allowed to send 3 players to the WCG finals which means that we will be missing a lot of top class Korean gamers in  Singapore.

The qualifier was divided into 3 stages: the progamer stage, the amateur stage and at last the final stage. There is room for 8 players in the final stage and the top 3 will be going to the WCG 2005. The amateur stage is a single elimination bracket involving 16 high quality Korean gamers of which the top 3, along with last years WCG 2004 runner-up   SK.Zacard, is to proceed to the WCG Korean finals. The progamer stage consists of a 15 players single elimination bracket, with the top 4 players going into the final stage.

3 mYm.Hanbit players, namely   T.MH]Storm,   T.MH]EVE and   T.MH]BerA, participated in the amateur stage. All 3 players were, sadly, knocked out early in the bracket and were therefore not able to reach the finals.

Let's take a closer look on the amateur stage bracket.

Amateur stage 1/4 finals:
  Mouz.Farseer   <  Who.WeRRa
  TmG)HomeRunBall >WE.ReMinD
  Qpool.Ohjie >Lof.Mamuro
  WE.DayFly <WE.Soju

Amateur stage semi-finals:
  TmG)HomeRunBall  > Who.WeRRa
  Qpool.Ohjie <WE.Soju

Amateur stage 3th place match:
  Qpool.Ohjie  > Who.WeRRa
Amateur stage Final:
  TmG)HomeRunBall  < WE.Soju

Following 4 players will move on to the final stage:

  WE.Soju
  TmG)HomeRunBall
  QPool.Ohjie
  SK.Zacard

Now, let's move on to the Progamers run for the final:

The 2 mYm.Hanbit players   T.MH]Lucifer and   T.MH]Susira participated in the Progamer stage, but were both knocked out in the first round.

Progamer stage Last 8:
  Mouz.Rainbow  < 4K^FoV
  Anyppi[Khan] <WE.Check
  WE.Sweet <PanTech.Moon
  Play´Lyn <WE.Swain

Following 4 players will move on to the finals:

  PanTech.Moon
  WE.Swain
  WE.Check
  4K^FoV

The 8 players who will be fighting for the 3 tickets for WCG 2005 are:

  WE.Soju
  TmG)HomeRunBall
  QPool.Ohjie
  SK.Zacard

  PanTech.Moon
  WE.Swain
  WE.Check
  4K^FoV

Gathered here are some of the very best players in the entire world. With players like,   SK.Zacard,   PanTech.Moon,   WE.Check,   WE.Swain,   4K^FoV attending at the finals, but only 3 tickets available, things are looking rather hot.

Let's quick move on and see how things ended up.

WCG Korea Finals:

Map pool for the Finals:

• Lost Temple ( RoC )
• Twisted Meadows
• Echo Isle
• Turtle Rock

Final stage 1/4 finals:
  TmG)HomeRunBall  2-1 WE.Check
  WE.Soju  2-0WE.Swain
  4K^FoV  2-1PanTech.Moon
  SK.Zacard  1-2 QPool.Ohjie
The legendary   PanTech.Moon lost against the Undead powerhouse   4K^FoV, in a thrilling 1-2 series with the last and deciding game going beyond 45 minutes. Last years runner-up at WCG,   SK.Zacard, lost his match against a well playing   QPool.Ohjie, which means that   SK.Zacard and  PanTech.Moon, are not to be located at  Singapore later this year.

Final stage semi-finals:
  4K^FoV   2-1 QPool.Ohjie
  TmG)HomeRunBall   0-2WE.Soju

Match for 3th place:
  TmG)HomeRunBall   2-1  QPool.Ohjie
Final stage Grand Final:
  4K^FoV    2-0 WE.Soju

Congratulations to   4K^FoV for winning the WCG  Korea qualifier by defeating   WE.Soju 2-0 in the grand Final. In the match for 3th place, and the last spot, did   TmG)HomeRunBall secure the win, and his place at  Singapore, by taking down   QPool.Ohjie in a close 2-1 series.

The WCG  Korean podium ended like this:

1.   4K^FoV - WCG 2005 spot
2.   WE.Soju - WCG 2005 spot
3.   TmG)HomeRunBall - WCG 2005 spot

We wish them all the best of luck at the upcoming WCG 2005
