ESL has always been big in Germany, but the company's presence in the Scandinavian has been narrowed down to a couple of attempts with a Danish ESL Pro Series. Now the company is looking to change that, as they have launched a brand new Scandinavian EPS, boasting a prizepurse of over €24,000!
The ESL Pro Series Scandinavia will feature two games, namely CounterStrike 1.6 and WarCraft III in the opening season. Both leagues will have 10 participants, where each country will get two representatives and the last two will come from a joint qualifier.
EPS Scandinavia is one of the first serious projects to unite the Scandinavian top teams/players in a joint league, thus giving the teams a chance to brand themselves outside of their own borders.
The prize-distribution for the first season looks like this:
CounterStrike 1.6
Win-bonus: €15
IFNG win-bonus: €1,000
WarCraft III
Win-bonus: €15
IFNG win-bonus: €500
Invited teams:
fnatic
SK Gaming
mTw
Roccat

Quoting smize: Denmark does have a very strong scene. Sadly they don't get much credit when it comes to top countries. The main reason for that, imo, is lack of sponsors within Denmark. No doubt though this will be an amazing EPS :) Winner of this EPS should play the winner of the German EPS :D | |
