ESWC is like a box of chocolate

eswc 08, xlbet

"Life is like a box of chocolate... you never know what you're gonna get" - Forrest Gump. And while you don't know what you're gonna get in a chocolate-box, the ESWC Grand Finals has the same characterstics - it is pretty unpredictable.

Going into the ESWC Grand Finals one thing is safe to say; no team is guaranteed an easy path to the Grand Final. The ESWC CS-tournament is one of the most competitive on the entire circuit, and there are no easy games.

History shows that underdogs have a tendency to knock out some of the top teams, already in the first groupstage. Think about last year; Dignitas sending Mousesports out, Turmoil advancing while eSTRO crashed out and ID Gaming being the executioner of wNv - there is certainly room for surprises.

What history also tells us, is that there are relatively few blowout-wins; 30-0's or similar results. In fact, most teams ended up gathering atleast 10 rounds per game. Why is this interesting? Well, from a betting point of view, it's quite good to know what the chances is of a game ending 16-3 or 16-8. Especially when there is handicap-games on the market.

And handicap-games is what XLBet has in abundance. It seems like they want to have odds on all the games, so they have chosen the handicap-version to spice things up when the low-tier teams are in the mix. Look for the (0-10) to (0-13) and ask yourself one question; Will mTw, fnatic or PGS.MYM play themselvs out or will they just take it easy and run them over round by round?

In my eyes, there is plenty of good value in those handicap-bets; taking the side of the underdog that is. So get out and put in the money on the underdogs - after all a 13-0 handicap for a team means they would just have to get 3 rounds before the other team reaches 16. That is just ONE gunround and the following safe-rounds.

Note though that you should stay away from Green Troop. They massed a total of 11 rounds in 4 games last year, where 5 of them were against cubesports....
