Finland edge out Sweden; goes to UB Final

enc, finland, sweden

Even though Sweden lacks the support from Sweden Nightelves SaSe and Sweden Undead FuRy in this edition of the ENC-Finals, their team is still one of the strongest among the four contenders here in Leipzig. They got the worst possible seeding though, as Sweden's first round matchup was a replay of last season's Grand Final against Finland.

The Finnish team is, once again, without Finland Nightelves Satiini, but has been reinforced by Finland Orc Konna who has put his CoD4-career on hold to participate in the ENC-tournament. As Russia missed out on the ENC-finals due to visa-problems, Finland has been named as the biggest favourite for the WC3-tournament.

While Finland didn't fall short against Sweden, the 3-1 score doesn't tell the whole story. A close 2-1 victory for the Finnish side in the opening 2on2-match, was a prelude to how the rest of the game would play out. BrinGer then extended the Finnish lead with a 2-1 victory against KnOfF, before EffeCt defeated the former MYM-player Konna; both games ended in close 2-1 victories.

Sweden was putting all their faith in LiiLD.C to give them a final lifeline, but the Finnish ace, elfittaja put that hope to rest, as he grounded the Nightelf 2-1, clinching the 3-1 victory and a berth to the Upperbracket Final for the Finnish side.

As Germany coasted past Denmark in their first game, the UB Final is going to be Germany against Finland, while Denmark or Sweden will be eliminated tomorrow morning as they meet up in the Lowerbracket.

You can find all the scores and brackets in our coverage.

This was a well played Tournement even tho i think it was a bit of a matter of luck in some moments, imo it could've been the other way around. But Bringer really shined in his gaming especially on GW with mana fountain.
