MYM.COD4 released from duty

The MYM management has today decided to release their Call of Duty 4 team due to lack of sufficient LAN results over the past 4 months.

The MYM COO, Denmark Mark Peter Fries said

It's unfortunate that we have to let them go, but again, just like the recent release of our FIFA team, it’s a matter of politics and top 3 results. As harsh as it may sound, then a team that cannot provide the organization with reasonable results on LAN do not fit into our strategy. We only wish to feature TOP 3 teams and when a team is given the opportunity and tools to evolve into that and do not succeed after a decent amount of time, then they do not fit into our strategy. With that said, they as a relatively young team did pretty well, especially with their recent 3rd place at the I34 LAN in the UK, unfortunately the result comes to late. They are all nice guys and I wish them all the best for the future.

The MYM.COD4 manager United Kingd- Robert 'Morg' Black, said:

Today we have to announce the parting of ways between the MYM.CoD4 team and the MYM organization. Over the last 4 months we have seen a very young team produce an array of results under the MYM banner. Unfortunately due to a lack of top results from the team over the summer LAN period, it has been decided that we must let the team go. MYM and I wish all the players good luck in their gaming futures.

Whether or not MYM will re-enter the Call of Duty scene will remain to be seen.

Big shame for a great team and for COD4. They had some unlucky brackets and hellishly close games against EG in paticular that on another day they could have won and gone on to win events (TeX/i34).

I partly agree, but to be no 1 you need to beat all anyway ;). With that said, then we don't expect a team to win all their is, it would be great hehe but its not realistic, but we expect more than the AEF and TEX results. And yes sure they met EG and had close games, but as a top team you need to be the one coming out on the top, if not then the hammer falls at some point, cause then you are not that top team. Knowing my destiny - Is accepting your defeat...

either we have 2-3 events announced soon to fill in the first quarter of 2009 or i don't see mym nor sk picking up a cod4 squad anytime soon. www.fraglider.pt

This is pretty a pretty sad move. You are sponsoring a team to get your name out? Well every event they go to they give a good reputation for there sponsor so I dont see how coming 3rd or losing barely by some of the best teams from North America or Europe is a huge loss to MYM. I feel like something else must of went down for you guys to just get rid of them like that. Maybe I just feel bad because I know the players? But w.e it's pretty funny if you ask me. GL m8's.

They dont give mym a good reputation. They were disliked by half of the community for their arrogance and queen like state they thought they had after joining with mym. Only minus in this move is that the cod4 community looses mym as an organisation, unless they find a new team.

The team still exist, the only thing that happened is that they part ways with the MYM. They will most likely be recruited by another organization if they are interested and continue playing Tournaments, for now COD4 is not even close to dying and it's providing more better tournament and prize money then "some" games I know. Pfft call of duty dies. One goes more comes.

not really true as in the team will not remain, but obviously replaying to someone who comment "cod is going to die" that is the least important thing when I was just trying to say that not because an organization parts ways with it's team means that the scene will die. Even if both players go AWOL the others are still on duty. When one goes it opens the possibility for more to come. COD4 is still growing, is probably one of the fastest growing Esport game and it took less then 1 year to get where other games took 5 years where it stands.

it would be nice to see MYM pick up another squad, but I guess it depends on the amount of events the scene will have in the next months (probably only in 2009) :\|
