Up until now the Championship Gaming Series has denied all the Counter-Strike: Source teams in the league the right to play in CS 1.6-tournaments. Either that has changed within the last few months, or else Jason Lake is making a real gutsy move.

The compLexity CS:S team has signed up for the American World Cyber Games qualification for CS 1.6 - much to the joy of the American community. Though it has been 1½ years since coL played CS 1.6 competitively, the mood surrounding the move is nothing short of ecstatic.

Jason Lake has commented on the decision on lacomplexity.thecgs.com, and he is stressing the fact that coL is only playing CS 1.6 because they think it's fun - not because they want to achieve world domination:

First and foremost, we'd like to let the coL Community know that we are doing this for FUN and have no false illusions of domination in 1.6 after not touching the game for 1.5 years. Our players love and respect 1.6, and want to play it as often as possible, but our professional careers dictate that we focus more on CS:Source. Thus, look forward to some good old fashion coL.cs 1.6 action, but please understand we are playing for fun and it'd be foolish to expect to see the coL.cs magic from 2004-2006.
