With only one day left until the gates of DreamHack Summer 2008 open, we've managed to get hold of some of the wildcarded teams that will be playing the WGT-tournament, for some quick interviews.
An exclusive interview with former Ninjas in Pyjamas and SK-player GeT_RiGhT was also made, click here to read it!
Team Alternate will attend the WGT-tournament this weekend, after receiving a wildcard. Did this come as a surprise or was the team expecting it?
attax|approx:
"At the beginning of the year 2008 we were planning our events together and DreamHack was one of it. DreamHack is an event that I've been looking forward to for such a long time. I'm proud to be a part of it."
Your team were placed in one of the most difficult groups after Group D, where you will be facing both SK and Oslo Lions. How will that affect your game-play, got any strenghts or weaknesses against these teams?
"I don't think that we are in one of the most difficult groups, but SK Gaming is the worst team that we gonna get in our group, because we never won any map or event against them with the 'new' lineup since 2007. In Germany we call them our "Endgegner". They play with such nice tactics and have perfect timings and aiming in game. It's the hardest oppenent for us. For a few weeks ago we had a bootcamp versus SK and we got totally raped by them.
But we won't get down by them and try to play the best which we can. I don't know Oslo Lions, I only know the players and I think they are a gatherteam and haven't prepared that good like SK for DreamHack so it would be one of the easier games."
The German national soccer team lost against Croatia with 1-2 in Euro 2008, any comments?
"Germany plays really bad, they were lazy and not aggressive enough like Croatia. They worked much harder than the German spoiled players. So we lost, I can't tell you more. I still have a RED HEAD!"
Team Mates have impressed the Danish Counter-Strike scene in a short time of period. The team is finally picked up by the organization excello, how does that feel?
excello^Straube (Head manager of excello.cs)
"Well, it's not sure whether or not we will play under Excello after DreamHack. First of all it feels great that a huge organization like Excello think that we are interesting and that we can perform more than just once. Excello and GamingPokerTour.com gives us a perfect oppotunity to do great at this DreamHack-event and then we will see what happens afterwards."
The players in excello managed to win against mTw in the Nordic DreamHack qualifiers, how do you think your players latest achievements will affect their results at DreamHack?
"I know how much motivation it gave the guys beating mTw. They really proved that they can compete on the highest level and their motivation have been very high after the win. I do not know how much it will affect them, but I know I got five very hot players ready to give the scene more of what they showed last time."
Interesting, has it been said which team excello fear most in the WGT-tournament?
"We do not fear anyone. We will be having a hard time against the Danish teams. They know how well we can play, but nope we do not fear anyone - I would have prefered to meet other groupwinners than mTw/MYM after the groupstage if we pass though :)"
It was recently announced that Spirit of Amiga will be replacing mibr in Group C, was it expected?
[SoA]hpx:
"It was not, actually we were having a break until now. Last time we played together was at EPS finals and that is about 2 weeks ago but some of us have played individually, mix and stuff. But we are very happy for the invite and we will try our best to make a 'Euro 92' when Denmark were on vacation when they recived the invite and still they made it! :p"
Your team will be facing the rivals team excello in the group stage, is it a game that you fear?
"Team excello... No I don't fear any team, but I respect them a lot. They have been performing well even though they haven't been playing together for so long. Maybe they are in better shape than us right now, or at least they should be. But let's see at DreamHack, perhaps we will outbrain them!"
SoA hasn't got much time left practicing before the event, what is the best and worst aspect of being in SoA's shoes right now?
"I mean, worst thing is the lack of practicing of course. But you have seen mixteams winning over very good teams, so maybe we will skip the tactics and play more publicstyle? Who knows. The best is that we don't feel any pressure at all because if we make a bad performance we can just say 'blah, due to lack of pcw's.. yeah.. let's go home and practise!!' ;)"
Your team has lately replaced lurppis with plastE, how has that worked out? How is the athmosphere in roccat now?
roccat\tihOp:
"Tomi (lurppis) took care of a lot of things besides gaming in Roccat so it takes a bit time to get used to plastE but so far it has been good!"
Roccat will attend the WGT-tournament over at DreamHack in Jönköping, Sweden, has the preparation been difficult?
"It's been quite difficult because we haven't been able to play as much as we wanted. We've been playing online and watching some tactics for a couple of days now."
You are in the same group as fnatic, realistically how do you think you will do in the tournament?
"I think fnatic is one of the favourite teams to win this whole event but of course we are going to fight them and I think we got a really good chance to beat them. If everything works fine for our team and we can get our A-game going then yes, we can easily win the tournament."
As a manager of the team, do you think that the players have had enough time to practise with their new key-player plastE?
roccat\Shayan (Head manager of roccat.cs):
"As the change came in the middle of the season, during a important preparation for a tournament I know that the preparation is not enough. But what can you do, I feel that a team needs at least a month with its new players. But at the same time, Samu has been a member of Roccat before."
How will you manage to influence the team during the tournament at DreamHack?
"Tough one! Well, as many don't know, I play soccer professionally in Sweden. Maybe not the best league in the world but I get my benjamins at least. So during the first day in the tournament I've got the most important game in the whole season. So I've to head back to play a game myself. But apart from that I'll try to be the mentally coach keeping them ingame and focused during the game and also discuss after."

In a recent article on SK Gaming, Michael 'Carmac' Blicharz took a swing against TUT (The Unnamed Team) for being the main reason why WC3-salaries have come out of...
