PriDe #10 - Top 16, Bigger prizes and Admin changes

Time goes by fast and now we have already broken down the more than 600 teams in Prime Defending #10 to the top 16 teams that survived. On top of that we have the below announcements.

Administration changes:

The administration behind myMYM and the company Regroup Events ApS who are running the tournaments known as Prime Defending, have decided to release the head admin, Romania Alex 'S1rro' S., from his administrational tasks within any Prime Defending related tournaments with immediate effect. S1rro will, for now, continue to be on the PriDe tournament staff but only as a match admin. The new head admin for all Prime Defending related tournaments is as of today Germany Gessarin Alisha 'd0t4bunny' Sawadiwong.

Additionally we will implement a committee/panel made of representatives from the top 10 teams in the world and high positioned DotA community people, who will help the PriDe Tournament administration on the heavy and/or hard decisions, so we can avoid any teams seeing decisions made by us as biased or flawed. By taking this step we also hope that the community understands that we do reflect on cases and issues happening in our tournaments, that could have been handled and or communicated better, as what all comes down to is to communicate faster and on a better level.

Prize money getting bigger:

The stakes for the Prime Defending #10 have also been raised, as the new main sponsor of the MYM team, XLBet, have added 875 US$ to the pool of the existing prizes in terms of betting accounts on Xlbet.com with real money and also 3100 US$ in round bonuses, where each team that wins a match will each receive 100 US$ on an XLBet account. Additionally it will also be possible to bet on ALL PriDe's top 16 matches and on ward on http://www.xlbet.com/, with real money of course. The prize pool for the top 3 Prime Defending winners is now looking as follows:

1st1st Place

- 400$ Prize money
- 500$ XLBet accounts

- 5 x Sennheiser PC 161 ( ~120 US$/each )
- 5 x 3 Months CLUB MYM Accounts ( 11 US$/each )
- 5 x MYM profile PriDe winner icons

2nd2nd Place

- 250$ Prize money
- 250$ XLBet accounts
- 5 x Sennheiser HD-series ( ~80 US$/each )
- 5 x 1 Months CLUB MYM Accounts ( 4,50 US$/each )

3rd 3rd Place

- 150$ Prize money
- 125$ XLBet accounts

- 5 x 1 Week CLUB MYM Accounts ( 3 US$/each )

XLBET PLAYOFFS BONUS!

XLBet is offering an additional bonus in height of 3100 US$!

Teams in the playoffs stage will receive 100 USD for every won match on their XLBet account!

Conditions :

  • The Bonus amount will be credited to the 5 players´ new or existing betting accounts.
  • Normal bonus rules apply and you have to be 18 years old to open an account at XLBet
  • Teams in the playoffs stage will receive 100 USD for every won match - split up as 5 x 20 to the five players on the winning team

That brings the total prize pool up to an astonishing US$ 4775,- in cash prizes and hardware and service prizes worth around US$ 1000,- on top of that!

Teams will have to be aware of that they have to inform the administration about the schedule times at the start of each playday! If matches are not being scheduled at the start of the playday, they will be forced to a date. Matches are not allowed to be played before the scheduled time without admins agreement.

Teams breaking those conditions will lose their right for payouts!

Teams delaying the tournament outside of playday boundaries, or breaking the rules will as well lose their right for payouts for the given matches!

Statement from MYM's DotA teamleader Denmark Maelk :

It is always regretable when a person in a powerful position, such as S1rro's, is deemed untrustworthy. The community seems to have lost faith in him and eventhough I might have agreed with him on a lot of his decisions, people couldn't seem to forget the whole Ks-incident or some of all the minuscule decisions that teams ultimately caused themselves.

Looking ahead, it is definitely a step in the right direction to create a council of trustworthy peers from the higher echelons of the DotA-community. Hopefully the right decision will always be taken and who else, if not the elite in touch with the scene, can be competent enough to judge in matters occuring in Prime Defending.

With Prime Defending League about to begin, it is extremely important that the scene, the teams and the community can trust the decisions made on important matters and I hope this way it will remain fair and unbiased. It is time for the community to let bygones be bygones and trust that the tournament will once again reach the same level of prestigiousness it had in its early days that were the direct cause to the competitive aspect of the game's popularity and the globally gathered scene we know and appreciate today. I doubt that competitive DotA would have grown, at least as fast, had it not been for Prime Defending.

Trust and forgiveness is also needed when a major sponsor, such as XLBet, steps up to the plate and increases the prizes remarkably and at the same time developing the tournament as well with its matchwin-rewardings. It is a dramatical improvement of the tournament and I think this is what everyone has been aching for in order to finally take it serious. Being able to bet on teams requires a lot more professionality than most teams are currently displaying and I can only hope for the scene to be ready for this step in the right direction. I, for one, welcome it and cannot wait to place my first bet!

Statement from SK's DotA player Sweden Akke :

It's a huge step for DotA for getting more sponsors, making more teams to be more serious in the competetive scene. The received 100$ for every victory makes the effort more worth it, even if you come 4th or any other place that atm have no price.

About the council, I think it's a great idea. Competetive players often have more ingame information than admins since they obviously have more experience.

Statement from Mousesports DotA player Norway XeqtR :

Sounds like a reasonable idea, to have the people who probably know most about the game in the thick of things. And with boosted prizes it will make Pride even more competitive and thats always a good thing.

Statement from WolkeR-Gaming player Ukraine Travka :

It's cool man, what can I add more? :D

If life would be that easy, to base whole processes on single destructive and one-sided essays, then yes. However, things are different, wheels were already in motion a long time ago for in terms of tournament improvements - but it's good that you are happy.

hahaha sometimes? it happens a lot of times lol.

A lot of times? Like how many times to be exact? Like out of 5000 matches, how many times did he screw up? 5? 10? 20 times? even if he screw up for 100 times it basically means that it's just 2% of the time. Statistically it's not that bad. You see, as the games increases more new situations arise, which in turn he's not prepared for it. That's why sometimes he makes wrong decision...
