While the majority of top teams were competing at CeBIT in Germany this weekend, a few were competing in Greece. The KODE5 qualifier was held in the capital of Greece, Athens, where
Gravitas Gaming took home first place. It was a great performance by the new team who have not gotten much time to rest since the victory. Shortly after the Danes returned to their homes the leader,
Andreas "KK" Andreassen was interviewed.
The interview features a lot of information about the qualifier as well as the teams plans in the future. Andreassen claimed that their next event will be SLAP LIVE #14 in Aarhus, Denmark, which will gather the best teams from Denmark. The interview displays their trip and performence during the event in Greece and a lot more!
Here is a snippet of the interview:
You took the trip to Greece in order to compete against some of the best teams in Greece as well as some international teams. A first place would send you directly to Moscow, where the KODE5 finals will be held. A victory was exacly what you guys took home. Let me first hear if you expected to win the tournament so easy – I mean you only had troubles with DarkPassage?
We went to Greece to take home the victory no question about it.. We knew that some of the teams could be a challenge (VL, 88, Man1a, DP) but our match against DP was far closer than I would have imagined from the get go.. If a foreign teams travels to Greece to play Counterstrike you pretty much know that they on some level know how to play the game. However FaagaN had some computer problems during the entire match - We didnt underestimate DP but even so they caught us by a surprise we went into overtime on both maps but we managed to close the game in the end.
Your next event will be SLAP LIVE, which will take place in Århus from the 20th to 23rd of March. How will you prepare for the event?
Yes our next event is SLAP and we will be bootcamping at my place from this sunday to thursday to be as prepared as we possibly can for the event and hopefully take home the whole competition.
It is always special to be at an event in foreign country. How were the fans and spectators at KODE5 Greece?
In general the Greek people is very kind and passionate about gaming and that was exactly how I experienced the whole gaming event in general.. So applaus to the Greek community :)
