Use your brain as mouse and keyboard!

Source: BBC News

Have you ever seen Minority Report, ever wanted to be like Tom Cruise being able to stand in front of a big screen and using your hands and brain as a keyboard?

It might be nearer than you think.

Emotiv have made a headset that reads your neurologic impulses in the brain, but it doesn't just do that, it translates these impulses into working codes which can be read by a computer. Thus they have created a new way of playing a game, and interacting. The headset is able to read emotions and facial positures. Imagine a game of internet poker were you can actually read the face of the opponent. Imagine playing WoW, killing a opponent and grinning (an evil grin) and having other people notice that grin on your WoW character. That's freaking awesome!

The headset

As you can see on the picture the headset is fitted on the top of your head, Sensors on each side read the impulses in your brain, and sends them via Wi-fi through your USB into your computer. I am unaware of how long, or how the battery is recharged.

The cost of the headset is set at 299$ which isn't really much if you want to be like Tom Cruise.
Though, as of now it hasn't been implanted in any known games (as far as I know) but lets hope that Emotiv and IBM can change that.

Yeah that thing has been created, that's amazing, but now they have to implement this into games etc... Technology is growing faster everyday and a lot of interesting and amazing things are being created but, why not spend money on giving some food to African people for example?

Well anyway, this headset is (or will soon be) revolutionary.

Imma fuck 'round en put da boy brains on da gate.

technology is getting crazier and crazier. We just need to push science to the next level and hope it starts to grow like technology is.

while i do love the chance to use only my head and let my body to rotten...for example it will give players an opportunity to play starcraft equally good even with physical handicap.

on the other hand - american children are already eating junk food, not doing proper excercise, at least games forced them to move their arms, now that they wont even have to use arms - are they gonna be fed by someone else due to being incapable of using their own "muscles"...this is leading more and more to people becoming plants, our legs and back are already weakening thanks to the PCs, with this...

i remember we used to spend time outside, every day playing football or something, as PC industry kicked in..we slowly turned to our houses, new generations dont want to do any sports or anything, they just want to play dota, wow 8h raids and other fun fun fun games.

If force won't work, use greater force.
