This WEG had it all, The best players, high prize money, and Best of 3 system used for all of the European fans and even though coverage was hard to find, e-sports.org provided us with everything we needed. At the start we had a intresting group stage with Sky vs Grubby right off the bat, and we got to see the other 2 match-ups that we always enjoy watching Grubby vs Sweet and Grubby vs Zacard. Even though Zacard was kind of dissapointing, Sky beating Sweet and the exciting series between Grubby vs Sweet was more then enough. Sky showed his dominace in the first round by going 3-0, while Grubby followed second. Sweet not being able to get past the group stage was a dissapointment, but we can't have everything can we -.^
On the other side, we saw Moon showing sign of his WEG 1 shape and dominating the group stage with a 3-0 (6-0) maps, while GoStop, ToD, and XiaOt all played close game vs each other where each series went to a third map. After ToD lose to GoStop and Moon and was thought to be out, 1 of the many upsets happened when XiaOt was able to take down GoStop with a 2-1 score. After that ToD was able to beat XiaOt and GoStop in order and qualified himself for the semifinals.

In the semifinals, where we had the old rivarly of Moon vs Grubby and the clash of the best HUs in the world ToD vs Sky, we weren't expecting the results that would follow. Even though the ToD vs Sky was pretty much open for grabs, Moon was the clear favorite in his match and many laughed at Grubby's comment when he said he would 3-0 him. How he all shut us up... -.^ The semifinals started with ToD showing a great perfomance in countering Sky's tier 2 strategy beating with Tier 3 units while Sky wasn't able to adapt and ToD won with a 3-0. A huge upset followed next where Grubby did what he couldn't do in his past 6 times vs Moon on LAN and boy did he beat him when it mattered the most... Grubby played simple amazing especially in game 4, and Moon wasn't able to play like his normal self for the series. Even though I was cheering for Moon, I think this would be a nice win for the Warcraft 3 scene, and hopefully would give hope to all of the Orc players that was starting to lose all hope. The finals was quite suprising too as ToD was able to beat Grubby pretty confortablly in a best of 5 and took the $30,000 prize with him.

I still remember when WEG II and III were being played and how everyone was screaming HU worst race!! But now, without any big changes, 2 players have started to make everyone think Human is now imbalance. How big a little time can change-.^. Also, maybe this will spark the Orc vs NE matchup as well. Even though my favorite players weren't able to win the tournament, I think this WEG was great and also think that this WEG was a great thing for the Warcraft community. I might add more later but wanted to sum it all up^^

in my view this doenst really say anything about the theory that hu is now the new imba race.
More games have to be played to prove this.

Tournaments aren't a very good indicator to balance imo. Especially not one with only 8 players.

Look at MIL for example. 16 players in the groupstage, and only two of them were Humans. (And one orc!) And they were all last in their respective groups last time I checked. ._.

atleast you could experience it!!

Yeah that is true as the top tier players aren't really factored in balance, but with big tournament comes big changes, and hopefully it keeps changing because that's what keeps this game alive^.-

Maybe the greatest, i ahve a hard time comparing it to eswc 2k4, but with live videostremas in both English and chinese, im sure that its the better. tho the ESWC2k4 games where slightly better

Also, it is highly obvious how much the shape of the day (or hour or whatever ;) is a factor. ToD hanging on by a thread from the group stage and then with seeming ease taking out Sky and Grubby, to players he has rarely beat (If I'm not mistaken).

Grubby said in an interview that he had had very little practice vs Elf, and he beat a player he has lost to so many times, while he lost to a player where the ratio is reversed. Not as clearly, but still, I think Grubby has won ToD more than ToD has won Grubby.

yup it was a great event. altough the coverage kinda sucked unless you were able to watch it live which probably most people can not do. I still haven't seen any of matches from the semis and final yet and they're yet to be uploaded as vods on esport.org. hope they won't forget them...

The WEG were great, although I do not think that these results will happen that often again.
