The time is approaching for the beginning of another major Starcraft: Brood War League

The EPS Season VIII is a 16-man tournament, sponsored by the Electronics Sports League, the ESL for short (http://www.esl-europe.net/de/scbw/pro-series/season8/1on1/). The tournament is played as a 15-week round-robin league, where each of the participants plays one opponent per week in a best of three showmatch. Each week, the ESL decides upon a specific map to be played in the first game of each set; from there on, it is the losers pick. At the end of the 15 week period, if there are no ties, the top player will win 250. Participants have been chosen from two different places:

Firstly, 10 of the 16 Individual participants are given a playoff berth by placing in the top 10 in the previous EPS Season, in this case being EPS Season VII. In this past season, the grand champion was determined to be none other than ToT)Mondragon(, who was able to defeat eSa.Schnibl0r 2:1 in a best of three mirror match, acting as a tiebreaker to the league. This win for Mondragon was extra special to Mondragon, as Schnibl0r had defeated him early on during the round-robin phase, but Mondragon proved that his ZvZ is definitely a force to not be reckoned with. Fellow Templars of Twilight member, ToT)Rob( clinched the third position while eSa.Breakdown took the fourth overall position. After the 16 week league came to a close, the Top 10 appeared to be:

The remaining six (6) positions are then filled through a set of qualification tournaments. There are three (3) of these tournament, where the champion & the second place participant in each will advance into the league.

These Qualification Tournaments are currently taking place & when the final six positions have been filled, I will update this article. I apologize if any information Ive posted here is inaccurate, since I dont speak German (the chosen language for the ESLs homepage for the event), finding out news on the league has proved rather difficult for me. I will continue to update on this as frequently as Im able to. If anyone has information they are able to contribute, please forward that info to Instinct757@hotmail.com. Otherwise, I look forward to an excellent 15 weeks in the future, hopefully getting my chance at working with mYm on this league in more detail. But for now
