Whining has always been a part of WC3 it seems :> so here we go: Why did I chose WC3 in the first place? The setting is cool, but the same goes for other games. The graphics are not nearly as great as those of more modern games and the sound is switched off while playing. BUT the gameplay is still unmatched, except maybe by Starcraft. And here is the problem: What makes Warcraft 3's gameplay like it is? The strategical variety, heroes, once you compare it to Starcraft, and its speed, maybe not as high as in SC, but higher than any other RTS game I played. And I seriously believe that if it wasn't for the high speed of multiplayer games, nobody would still be playing SC or WC3. One mistake can decide a game in an RTS game, that is valid for almost any game out there. But where you can easily start a new game in WC3/SC and tell yourself not to make the same mistake again, you will think twice about doing so in AOM, Earth 2160, SupCom, Battle Realms... add any game you like to the list. Simply because games in most cases last over 30 minutes. The average game on Northrend lasts about 16 minutes. Makes mistakes less bad and the game less frustrating, doesn't it? Now take some games I (undead) played today. 17 minutes vs. orc, 22 minutes vs. nightelf, 24 minutes mirror, 14 minutes vs. orc, 7 minutes vs. nightelf. 42 minutes vs. human. Guess what the human player was doing. Mass towers, then mass air. Thank god, could have been a lot worse with mass tanks. Now I am not saying that this is 'imba', I don't, and tbh I dislike the word a lot. BUT: For me it robbs WC3 of all the features I enjoy about it. No more fast paced games. No more strategical variety. Just waiting for the human to come out of his base and building enough siege to do damage and keeping enough 'combat units' to still be able to fight. Wow, how exiting. And I can't even take revenge since human has the best anti-tower units the game offers. So much for hating human. But let me add a bit. At my level of play (lvl 33, playing loads of 5-0 accounts, 6-0 and 7-0 after winning streaks, 3-0 and 4-0 after losing streaks) I believe it is safe to say that since it takes a lot more knowledge to counter it than to execute it, tower pushing is very effective, very strong since it takes a lot more knowledge to counter it than to execute it. Don't you dare claiming I said imba. And the one race that is impossible to tower - mainly due to militia - is by accident also the one race that can tower other races like no other - hi ivory bullshit towers. Human ofc. Similar things can be said about expoing: Quick to build, easy to defend because of militia. So although I believe everyone who says it takes a lot of skill to be really good with human, I think that if you want to become a mediocre player (mediocre being lvl 30-40 - flame me for the word if you like) without too much effort, human is the race. So, after all the human-hating, what is left to say? Please not that I don't blame a single human player for using towers. Of course everyone wants to win. And frankly: Winning against someone who does NOT isn't even fun. So basically it's just the matchup I hate, and nothing humans can do ab out it. P.S. I can't make this a WC3 entry, only 'Not game related' =/

I've also spent time on thinking what exactly it is that makes the Warcraft series and Starcraft the best RTS games available. And I always come to the same conclusion: it's the fast paced, action packed gameplay, and of course the micro/macro, and the countering system with armor types etc. add a whole new level of RTS gaming into it. When I compare something like Red Alert 2 with Warcraft 3, I don't really find anything that I like more about RA2... So here I fully agree with you that WC3 > all. But the part about human... I don't really agree with you on that it is easiest to become mediocre while playing human, I would say the Elf is easier. Human is a race which requires good micro and macro skills, however it requires no brain at all. No timing is needed, there is an easy way to counter pretty much anything someone can throw at you, and you can always just sit behind those towers if things go bad. Elf has one thing in common with human, it doesn't require much use of the brain, but elf however does not even need much use of microing. The cookie cutter strategies of today make it very easy to play night elf :( How do you do, my name is Trouble.

okay, the part about human being easy is biased ofc. i think human doesn't need a lot of micro - i know footies don't have a lot of hp, but imho micro starts where one unit doesn't matter much anymore, before that it's mainly staying focussed or not. but if you disagree, i admit i don't have a lot of arguments to convince u other than the usual 'autocaster lamebolt asdfolo' stuff which i really don't want to have here ;) but the rest remains: i love that wc3 is fast paced, and this particular, unfortunately very common strat, is all about slowing the whole game down :( www.karltoffel.de - my blog =)

#1 Seriosly.... We all hate the mass tower stuff, but it dosent always come from HU. I created a smurf to have a little fun and try some strats out, but the first guy i got was an UD that didnt make a single zigurath without upgraiding it in some kind of tower, and we all know how evil the ud base is... you get my point, it was a long game Sup?

#4 Archers are the only unit in the Elf army that actually require micro to some extent. But why the hell would you try to counter grunts or ghouls with archers? #5 Ye, been there done that ;) How do you do, my name is Trouble.

icyF just hates elves, and thats his way of showing it. How many times do people that know most about the game have to repeat its about the players and not the races. Unleas your a Rotti - Duck - ToD fan, which is basically whine till you drop. also #6, by the time you get hunters to counter a good ghoul rush, you'll loose pritty much every thing, especially if he ud knows what he's doing. Sup?

#6 go on us east bnet and play as ne using NO micro, just basic commands/spells/items post some replays afterwards if you can.

#6 I wish I was 8( #8 I hate to lose vs players who played worse than I did during a game. And if the undead would attack the elf before he/she has huntresses the undead would have like four ghouls and the first huntress would be out before the ghouls could actually do anything. But you can do it so much easier for yourself by putting up one ancient protector. #10 If I play elf, I play bears. And I just click attack move at the start of the fight, maybe cast a reju on the dh and roar, use mana burn and staff. And thats about it. I usually win, but that might have something to do with the level of opponents I face. If I start a new smurf I play like the first five games or so with some other than my main race. #11 Well... ne needs first no REACH those bears. i've got an idea. you're from MYM, right? so maybe you should ask Moon about ne micro... and tell him that ne is the easiest race to play, and that attack-move is a way to go for elf.
