In Japan, the changing of spring to summer brings us an another joy in addition to the good weather, Summer Festivals. To sum up a summer festival, we wear Yukatas(which are like Kimonos but more loose) and we have fireworks, dances, and people put out little shops on the roads where we can get food or play small games to earn prizes.
These little summer festivals happen everywhere during summer and the big ones have great fireworks that thousands of people gather tto watch. The festival itself is a great place to go with friends and the absolute BEST place to go on a date since you get to wear a Yukata(which is special) and fireworks^.-
The way we dance in a summer festival is called a Bon Odori where we dance around the fire. This is the traditional way. These days howerver more and more places just blast music really loud and we dance on the streets crazily until the music stops^^ But the difference between the loudness and excitment during the dancing and the quietness and romaticness during the fireworks is what makes summer festivals so great!!
The small shops have many different type of games but the one special one in Japan is gold fish catching. we use small nets which break really easily if we do not take care and we try to catch as many goldfish as we can without the net breaking. Any goldfish we catch we are able to take home.
At the stands, we can get regular stand food but some special desert items like chocolate bannas and carmel apples are very nice^.-

Anime FTW !!! But if I had the chance and the $$$ for sure I will go to Japan. So can I take part of the festival and meet al those kawaii japanese girls ^^.
