G7 Teams August, 2008 Update

( September 10, 2008 )
G7 Teams is an affiliation of top professional e-sports teams and community leaders working together to better and develop professional e-sports. To achieve the goals that G7 Teams sets out to the community, we need our Members to be active and contributing members, community leaders in their respective e-sports markets, and to have players and teams that compete at the highest level on the international circuit. Effective immediately, founding G7 Teams member 4Kings from the United Kingdom and one year member PGS from Poland have been removed from G7 Teams.

An ongoing focus of G7 Teams is the Affiliate Program, which was first released on the G7 Teams website for amateur and professional teams, but this will be expanded and better tended to in the coming months to make this a more interactive and engaging relationship.

Team EG to get invite status for the G7 teams

( September 6, 2008 )
The G7 Teams today are proud to open the group to another representative from the northern American region. Within the next three months, Evil Geniuses (EG) will have the chance to prove themselves within the group and become a full member after this.

EG will send its Executive Director, Alexander Garfield, into the G7 Teams to represent the brand.

"It's one of eSports' largest honors to have your brand be given the opportunity to have a voice in the G7, which has amassed such an impressive and elite array of brands and individuals," said Garfield regarding the invitation.  "EG will certainly do its absolute best to make North America proud alongside Craig Levine and Jason Lake as the region's team representative to the G7."

"We have been working with Alex in the past, especially regarding the CS Pro Mod topic," said Alexander T. Mueller, Spokesman of the G7 Teams. "Back then we had the feeling he could be an asset to our group and we started talking to him more intensively. At the ESWC Grand Final, we discussed the matter more and shortly after we decided to give EG the three months invite status to become a full member. We are looking forward to their input and are happy to have yet another representative from the northern American region."

The invite status starts on 5th September and will end on 5th December 2008 with the goal to welcome EG as a full member of the group. read more

G7 teams releases open ranking model

( August 19, 2008 )
The G7 Teams today announces the release of its official open ranking system, beginning with the first game Counter-Strike 1.6.

The G7 Teams strives to improve professionalism and transparency in all areas within Electronic Esports and previously has announced initiatives such as the standardized G7 player contract, prize money dispute system and now the official release of the first version of the Counter-Strike 1.6 ranking system. The G7 Teams strongly believes that to improve transparency, and reward the achievements of teams and players a balanced ranking system is needed. This will enable the comparison, improved reporting and measurement of the world’s Esports teams and players.

With this new ranking, organizations will be able to:
  • Know exactly where to place in a tournament to retain their current positions
  • The ability to predict possible outcomes of a tournament
  • Create more accurate seeds
  • Know which events are the most competitive and therefore more valuable

G7 Teams with new Website

( June 17, 2008 )
After two years of work, G7 Teams has relaunched our website with updated functionality, content, and information to better serve the community.

Aside from the redesign, we've added a community calendar of events to not only show upcoming events but also to offer our evaluation based on a catalogue of criteria.  Event organizers can not only view other confirmed events, but also add events for G7 Teams to review and confirm before sharing them with the community.  We hope this new feature fosters information sharing among e-sports organizers and helps teams better plan their calendar of events.

The second most noteworthy change is the addition of a G7 Affiliate Program.  Teams can apply to become an Affiliate to work with member teams to improve and progress e-sports.  Affiliates will have a more direct communication channel to G7 Teams to help resolve community issue and participate in G7 surveys and reviews.

We hope the new website and advanced functionality helps keep G7 Teams more accessible to the community and transparent with the ongoing and often behind the scenes work we're busy with.

On behalf of all G7 Members, welcome and enjoy!
