as we see EVERY single wc3l season, there are merc teams. Currently we have h2k, bfly (former kow3) and now ieS, wow holy crap what do you guys think of these clans, and what would you think if wc3l administrators let them in to the wc3l qualifiers, plz be mannered and i cant wait to hear statements from these clan managers

ok ill give my definition of a merc team : A team who picks up many players at once and offers them alot of money in the hopes of getting into professional leagues (ngl wc3l or even WPL), and if they dont make it they would likely disband (the players arent limited to asians as we can see many europeans are being merced) and even if they do make it they will perform poorly

personally, i think its a bad thing to create a merc team, especially if right when you get into wc3l you perform really bad and screw over your players, so i am openly ooposed to merc teams, and the reason i put h2k as a merc team is cause half their team is european

Money is the mother of everything, not only so-called "merc team".

I think it's very hard to define whats a merc team because over a period of time the definition itself has changed. It was earlier used as an "abuse" word against Koreans present in teams that aspired to reach the top like MYM. SK was never classified as one since they had a separate team which later got amalgamated into the international one but what the heck it's SK they got tons of fanboys so np.

The definition now has changed to even include non-korean and to be specific non-asian people. I don't think it's fair to label teams as "mercs" since there are always a lot of reasons that go behind a team disbanding. Team statements or even player interviews for that matter never really tell the truth and even if they do ... they can never be put into context as to what a team management feels.

That's just my thoughts, remember every team tries their best to get sponsored but not all of them actually get it. You can't blame people for trying.

On rare instances there have been teams (last time 3wD) who didn't hide their ambitions and made it clear that if they were out the team wouldn't continue and the players joined on that accordance as well.

#0 if we use your definitions for merc team(or not definition, but your comment)=> MYM is also merc team. What do you think: if MYM stops paying their players, they will stick with the team?

nice manners as always xeon.
you ies guys are the worst of all mercs out there.

now back to the topic.
i think its sad that good players join another team just because the get +5$.
there are less loyal players then 2 years ago.
such teams destroy others and in the end they brake up because they arent able to pay their members anymore, mostly after a bad qualifier to the wc3l or ngl.

All teams that pay their players are merc teams, even MYM. Nothing wrong with this concept. Just look at professional athletes they are "bought" to play a game for millions of dollars. Nothing new.....

Xeon isnt the only who dislikes kittensandmilk. I really see him as kinda tarded as well. But my personal opinion is really none of MYMs business.

Hmmm..
I think we could get that Airton Senna's statement:
"No money, no race"
It's normal to see players playing for money

I'm sorry guys/girls, but a great thing in professional gaming would be if the fans and amateur athletes would grow up mind-wise....There is no such thing in professional sports as mercenaries, no matter if its electronical or real life sports, thats why its called professional.

A player is hired to do a job for a certain amount of time due to his contract, for a certain amount in terms of salary for the contract duration, thats called A JOB and you cant bend that, besides it being part-time or full-time.

So stop calling professional athletes mercs, its an ignorant, childish and narrowminded way of thinking and if you spent more than the time it takes you to type in "Mercs!!!!" then you would know.

You can though call casual gamers, with no contracts or contracts that does not allow the them to in anyway make a part time or fulltime living of the job a mercs if you feel for it, but these players aren't professional, they are amateurs, who, some of them, are trying to become professional, so its the term which gets mixed up as every wannabe pro player today sees himself as a pro just because he gets a contract of 5 bucks a month.

Our professional players like the INT WC3 team or our CS team and more can all make a living from gaming, they have high wages and they all play professional gaming for a living, they are equal to real lifes professional athletes and they fulfill their contracts for the given period of time and then they evaluate if the offer they get from their current team is good or if it would be better for them in a longer perspective to seek new challenges. And there is nothing wrong in doing that, thats a part of life, you stay at the job that suits your needs, the one you like, with great colleagues, challenges or you move on..

So please, first think, then write, it pays off.

so you see, we all have conflicting opinions, though some people can make a rational arguement and include something called "manners" in their posts, i respect your opinion mercy

Well, yes mercy you're right, but i'm talking about teams that tell players they would get a lot and then they split up after 2-3 months because no one gets what he deserves.

Of course teams like mYm, 4K WE, fntc, mouz, and so on wNv etc. are professional. Their players deserve the money and they also get it because the management of such clans isn't that stupid to promise a lot without having anything at all.
