StarCraft SuperStarS tournament

International E-Sports Group brings you a StarCraft tournament for the North American players with a prize pool of $1000 and a chance to play in eSTRO. Its name? StarCraft SuperStarS.

Those Koreans… you let them out of sight for a moment and they start a new StarCraft-related event. This time they went even farther: a tournament that will legally kidnap the best one and have him delivered on the front door of the Korean professional gaming team Korea, South eSTRO. Let me break that down for you: 16 North American players are invited to fight for prizes of $1000 and the luckiest of them all will win an all-expense paid trip to Seoul in South Korea to play with the Koreans from eSTRO.

Here are the prizes and the way they are split:

StarCraft SuperStarS prize pool
1st $ 500
2nd $ 300
3rd $ 150
4th $ 100

As for the maps, there will be 3 of them: Peaks of Baekdu, Python and Tau Cross.

But how can you be a part of this?

“The first tournament will take place on Sunday October 14th and already has all 16 players confirmed. There are two ways to get you into one of the StarCraft SuperStars event; receive an invitation from one of the StarCraft SuperStars admins or qualify through one of the open qualifiers that will be hosted prior to future S3 events. To be eligible to play in StarCraft SuperStars, you need to be a resident of a North American country.”

The part regarding the trip to Korea is basically luck-related. Why is that? Because the winner will be chosen from the top 5 finishers by the eSTRO coaching staff. This means that if you may have had a tough time and you didn’t manage to finish first, you still have the chance to win the trip if the jury likes you.

After we received the official press release, we also got the chance to find out who are the 16 players and how will they play. Being such good guys, they agreed, so here they are:

StarCraft SUperStarS Tournament

With players like iNcontroL, Idra, Artosis, XiaoZi or Iefnaij, the matches are sure to be great, so stay tuned for the results! And why eSTRO? Because eSTRO is a part of the International E-Sports Group in Korea, so things are obvious here.

WHOA... it's cool to see Korean pro teams having interest in foreigners. Maybe they should do Europe and the rest of Asia next. The only question I have is will the winner have a pro gamer license and actually live in Korea?
