Blizzard "Hack Reporting" section is up

blizz

This gigantic, colosal, huge, well...big gaming company, going by the name of Blizzard, has done it again. Their community support is mostly what made them what they are, and it seems that they are now starting a new section that will basically serve as an all-time anti-hack section designed for StarCraft and WarCraft III as well.

Most of you are thinking by now that Blizzard is going to use this section to start restricting accounts that have been found guilty, but this is probably not the case. Well what's the catch, then? The thing with this move is that by studying the replays, the Blizzard crew will be able to study the games' flaws/weaknesses, and therefore, improve the future patches.

Blizzard doesn't have many precedents with distributing hack-related punishments, but this may soon be a thing of the past; with the fact that a game's core will be reinforced, hacks might soon become extinct. However, this scenario is pretty optimistic for the time being, time will show us just how much optimistic we can actually be.

Another intersting feature related to the Hack Reporting section revolves around the hacks themselves: you can report to Blizzard by sending them a hack that you may have come across or give link to it. Apparently, Blizzard comes in peace, so the whole deal here is to study them in order to fight them.

This sounds good for a virtually defensless Battle.net, so let's keep our fingers crossed and lend a hand to Blizzard for this project, since it's about our beloved game we're talking about. For more info, check out the links below.

well every patch after the 1.13f proves how clueless they are about bw and our programs we like to use, not to mention the major problem they caused to ashur where they literally killed his every good intention of making bw even more enjoyable experience, if you ask me they should've sticked to wc3 and never start implementing stuff from there to sc, same goes for this "hack thing", we were just fine until they came and crashed our anti-hack program.

so what now people can hack freely until they release a new patch? and the time needed to release a new patch is nothing compared to the little time needed to figure out a way to bypass its security. basically ever since 1.13f they literally mess up things and then release a new patch to fix the mess, seems they will keep on doing so. luckily we have our private servers with private launchers that will exist no matter what blizzard does with the official servers - we care about antihack in ladder games only anyway so no problem :D

Sounds more like a preparing for SC2 than caring about previous games to me...

the worst patch was basically 1.13 (remember a,b,c,d,e,f) so ever since that one, things kinda started settling down.

my prime concern is that since ashur&co couldn't continue with PPlug/BWLauncher, Blizzard didn't create an anithack program for Battle.net and so iCCup is basically the only way where you feel a bit safer from hackers. last time i played vs a hacker was some time this week, and i rarely have time to play, so imagine that... i hope this will be for the best and that blizz will actually do something or at least make PPlug available again.

ye 1.13 was worst but 1.13f was best once they settled it all down, 1.14 was supposed to be like some fake caring for us, they implemented sh**y rally point with mouse from wc3 which totally messes up my macro since you cant select al gates with 1hotkey like in wc3, not to mention lastreplay saved which sux compared to our autoreplay. then they made 1.15 to fix all the damage they did in 1.14 and now what? do 1.15b to fix rest of the things they didnt so far.

hope they allow key changing in sc tours so we can change our rally point to default as it always was, wish people would use brains before they implement stuff from other games -some things are not there for a reason >,<

They should allow ashur to continue his work. They already showed in joining up with WGTour that they can work together with the community.

But we shouldnt complain that much : -) other games/communities are worse off

#6 other games dont have communities compared to sc :DD
as for wgtour - one quick beta season and then nothing i dont exactly call working together with the community, i'm sure they can fidn 2-3decent guys to take care of one simple ladder, if we can make our private ladders over and over again I think they can make one as well :)
