No more Internet-Café in Sweden?

The government in Sweden has decided that all the computers in the Internet-Café will be classified as gambling machines and therefore they also need a permit to have computers and this for a fee of 2000 SEK (213 euro) per computer according to the rumors. Hannif Akhlaghi from Inferno-Online denied in an interview with Counter-Strike.nu that this amount that was published on for example Rakaka was false and the fee is a thing that has to be paid every other year but didn´t reveal the exact amount.

The reason behind this new law in Sweden is to prevent minors to be in unsuitable environments. The background though is an incident for a couple of years when a city in Sweden considered that those called nightgibs (People playing a whole night in an Internet-café) was unhealthy.

Obvious all this will have a huge influence for all the Internet-café in Sweden and companies like Inferno-Online with 200 computers will have to pay if the amount is right 400 000 SEK (42 600 euro). How will it affect the market that's the big question here? Higher prizes, less Internet-cafées or both? And when the law will take effect is uncertain. One thing that is certain though is that this is not good for Sweden and for all persons that love games instead of running around in the streets all night long.

To be continued....

My personal opinion is that it´s much better young people spends the night in an internet-café than hanging around in the city....... See those places like a place for youngsters instead of something bad. It´s non-alcoholic, non-smoking and social.

... sucks but Nostra is 100% right.

Governments and businesses but all these regualtions in place and there really arent many places for kids to go anymore. I know in america they always complain about how kids are always inside but the truth of the matter is, there arent many places for kids to go and hang out.The one arcade by me was REALLY strict ... he didnt even like it if kids were smoking in front of it(ridiculous) and Most of the parks are run down or not in walking distance and there. There is one park by my house where you can only use the baseball\ soccer fields and basketball\tennis courts BY PERMIT.

and they wonder why kids spend so much time indoors now adays -.- They blame TV and the computer when most of the time its the goverments own regulations that do it

Here in Argentina if you're younger than 18 you can't stay for the night at a net cafe unless you bring your national document of identity, a fotocopy of your parent national document of identity and a signed authorization by your parent. This seems much more rational to me than this crazy measure.

All those permissions are ridiculous... anytime they will dictate you what to eat beacuse it`s healthier. Anyway i guess they will file a lawsuit against this hence i don`t think it`s justifiable to equate online gaming with gambling.
