ASIA going on the Rampage

Intel is sponsoring eSport events, tournaments and organizations for a long time now, but recently they came up with a new idea: a league designed for Warcraft III and Counter-Strike 1.6 called RAMPAGE ASIA. The league lasts for exactly three months, starting on September 15th and terminating on December 15th.

So what is new about this league? For Warcraft III the playing style is pretty much resembling the Bnet ladder. You log on with your account, then start fighting your opponents while your score is being saved in a data base online, viewable on a public web page. Not very common but definately not new is that Counter Strike 1.6 is not being played as a stacked 5on5 team but as a mixed 5on5. Your Kill/Death ratio also being saved for the ladder. New is the prizing system!

Distributing 70,000$ in cash, equally shared between Wc3 and CS 1.6, will motivate a lot a gamers for this league. But for earning a prize, you don't have to be the best gamer, you have to have luck! Yes, you got that right. After playing more than three hours of CS 1.6 or 50 games of Warcraft III you automatically qualify for the lottery. Then, after the league has finished, they will draw lots to determine the winners!

The winner in each game will receive a whopping 20,000$ while the second gets 10,000$ and even the third pockets five grands.

To play here you have to come from: Australia, Bangladesh, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam.

If you feel like registering now or you like to have more information or just take a look at the rrankings you might want to click here

That's a lot of money that is being used as a lottery as opposed to an actual competition.
