StarCraft:Ghost not dead

ghost, pardo, rob

The StarCraft universe seems to be too crowded nowadays. We have StarCraft Original, StarCraft:Broodwar, StarCraft 2, StarCraft: Project Revolution and StarCraft: Ghost and who knows what else is there just waiting for the right moment to shine... But today's topic falls on StarCraft:Ghost. The only game of the "series" that wasn't meant to storm the computer games' market. Instead StarCraft:Ghost will (or may never) be available for console owners only. And unlike the other StarCraft games, in Ghost you take control of a single person, who happens to be a hardcore-trained ghost operative.

From SC:L Ghost archive:
"Starcraft: Ghost is a tactical-action console game set in the Starcraft universe. Perspective is third-person and not first person. The game is expected to ship in Quarter 4, 2003 with an ESRB rating of Teen. Starcraft: Ghost will be available for all three next generation consoles, the Microsoft Xbox, Sony Playstation 2, and Nintendo GameCube. The game will come out first on the Xbox, but the PS2 and GC ports will not be far behind. "

You may notice the year of publishing is 2003 and in case you are wondering - it's already 2007.

From Ghost Wiki:
"Blizzard announced the game in 2002, but on March 24, 2006 announced it would "indefinitely postpone" development. Soon afterward, Blizzard removed StarCraft: Ghost from its list of games currently under development, and deleted the official Ghost home page; the URL for that page now redirects to Blizzard's web site. As of now, its status is in question, and many fans and analysts, including gaming websites such as IGN , are predicting that it has been cancelled"

Many have thought the game was dead especially after the announcement of StarCraft 2. But just like Project Revolution (read our news here) shortly after the sequel being introduced to the world, more Ghost info appeared. GameDaily.Biz interviewed Rob Pardo just to hear that Ghost is coming back....Maybe not tomorrow, but some day for sure.

GameDaily.Biz's interview:
BIZ: So I have to ask about a new Diablo and the status on StarCraft: Ghost, which I believe you probably get asked during every interview...

Rob Pardo: Yeah, I do. I don't think that anyone ever believes us. Either that or they think that I'm going to slip up one of these days in a casual interview. Diablo... we love the universe. I'm sure one of these days, we'll revisit it and do something in that universe but that day is not today. And as far as Ghost goes, we love that game concept and we consciously said that we're putting it on indefinite hold. The game didn't get made because we didn't love the character and we didn't love the concept. It didn't get made because it wasn't coming together in the way we wanted it to and we wanted to focus on our other projects. As I said earlier, if we had a development team available and they had a passion to do Ghost, we'd probably let them do it. That's what it would take.

where's the news actually? :D
I mean it's kinda clear that Blizzard would produce starcraft:ghost or diablo 3 or maybe even Warcraft Adventures (<3) but in the end it has to fit their quality demands so it can take 1 or 2 years or will never be realised.

don't worry i'll keep on doing it for long, long time :)
having a variety of products is a much better solution if you ask me, sc:ghost would be something like wow, a different aspect of an already explored universe.

perhaps they'll link sc:ghost to this incoming train called sc2, once it dies ghost jumps in and earns alot of money, that's in the interest of PC industry as ghost will by then demand incredible PC configuration since they'll make it in 5 years? more? who knows.

read closely :) they said if they make it they'll make it when people working on it can make it the way it's meant to be made to fullfil the standards of making blizzard has made over the past decade and more.
