Tod gives up and PGL adds showmatches

give up, pgl, showmatch, tod

Tod We have recently seen good results from France Human ToD at the PGL, but yesterday he lost against our own superstar Korea, South Nightelves Moon with a score of 3-0. His only prospect is to become 3rd after beating China Human TH000, who lost against China Human Sky. But for unknown reason ToD forfeits the match and gave TH000 the third place for free. In order to fill the time that was reserverd to play the match for the third place they came up with this:

PGL decided to have 3 showmatches. Each match-up will contain of two games and the first round's loser picks the next map. The winner of each game will recieve 1000 RMB, which is approximately 100 Euro. Match-ups look as follows:

China Nightelves suhO
-
Fov Undead Korea, South

China Orc xiaOt
-
Sweet Undead Korea, South

China Orc Fly

-
Susiria Undead Korea, South

Despite of these sad news we hope for a very thrilling Grand Final. We will update this news as soon we got more news about it. You can have more details in our PGL coverage.

*Update*

Tod has made a blog about it and explains some of the reasons behind his forfeit.

2nd *update*

He allready made a 2nd blog of it.

Editors Opinion
Wingking Chi -
I don't know the reason behind the forfeit. I think it's just stupid not to play and give up. But I'll enjoy my time with the showmatches though.

Credit to ToD, he made a right decision. And i don't think pro football players want fans running around on the field when they are training to an important match. And pretty bad of PGL to have such a bad security when they only have to take care of 10 players + some managers that dosnt care because they are getting free food anyway.

If words don't change anything you have to take actions to claim your rights; good move by ToD.

The players will make the show happen. If you treat them good with the right conditions, you will have a hell of a show.

If you treat them badly, you´ll have the worst show possible.

The PGL, by inviting a player from Europe to play in Asia, should give them the best playing conditions. The environment itself it is not the same, so at least give them proper conditions.

Good decision by ToD and congratulations to Moon for reaching the finals.

No matter what ppl says, I really like ToD. I like his style, and got respect for his way of playing the game. About the heat issue, he has allways been like that, and it really seems to be a problem for him. Thats why I dont understand why ppl are whining about it, its his decision, and if he wants to give a youngster 2000$, he can do it.

Good decision by ToD, after all, who would want to watch a pro playing at an utterly terrible level, due to poor playing conditions because of tournament organizers.

As someone said before, if you aren't going to treat the pros properly, then don't expect them to play. Each individual is different and ToD is just more intolerant when it comes to heat, whilst other players may have other intolerances. I'm sure each and everyone of you have your dislikes and could not play to your BEST ability under those conditions.

I respect ToD beacuse he stood up and spoke his mind, not just accept what TERRIBLE conditions they provide you. Hopefully organizers can finally get the SUBTLE message through this boycott.

#32, i agree: you can't play your best under all conditions, and if we talk about the pro level, then it's a hell lot more important.
I'll be nicer when you're smarter.

This is such a bad decision from ToD. He might not have liked losing and fully like the conditions, but this was not a strike from his side or something like that, that would show how unhappy he was about the conditions, this was basically letting down all his fans who had been looking forward to his games, and he shouldn't make them pay for it.

Even though I don't like the fact he threw away a 3rd place match, I can fully understand it, hating heat as well...
I'd prolly have done the same would the staff had pissed me off previously.

Stop being a sour loser and suck it up. Throwing away a chance at money is just stupid.

And the "I sweat more than Asians!!!1" argument is just ridiculous.
(last year)  #38 zestzorb

"The asians sweat much less than caucasians do, i think most of people know that, they dont even use deodorant in the morning after showering before going out.

They nearly dont sweat at all. So a heat for them is nothing, but for me it means everything, it means my head will get slow and sleepy."

That's your problem, mate. You should blame yourself that you're born European, not that the orgas have to provide special treatments for a sweaty guy like you.

I like your attitude, ToD. But sometimes you have to learn how to adapt, not to have others adapt for you.

He did not let down his fans after all..

#34 Seriously what letting down? Eg. Seeing your fav player with his hand injured not playing OR seeing your fav player playing with his hand injured and losing 0-3??
(last year)  #40 wtfomfgbbq

#39 there's a HUGE difference between playing in heat (which all other players experienced as well) and having an injured hand, which is a handicap. Although I truly believe that heat affected tod greatly and that may have caused him to lose to Moon, tod's attitude that "i only lose because of the heat, not because of my opponent" is both insulting and unprofessional, and therefore deserves criticism. Also tod is very moody, yesterday he forfeit the match because he was angry about his loss, then today he realized it's not a big deal and was trying to play the match that he already forfeited in..... u don't see sports teams forfeit the match after losing a game that could've gone either way but had a biased referee? why should tod be granted so much power to ask moon to trade races when the rules forbide switching races, and then why should he be able to forfeit the match, then on next day show up and tell the unprepared opponent that he wants to play after all???

I don't think you guys understand China in the summer.

PaTo told me it was like 104 degrees F when he was in China, on average, (40 degrees C for everyone not from the USA).... I don't know about other people, but in the North East of the USA (new york, NJ) our news and weather casters issue a severe weather alert if the temperature ever goes up that high.

For caucasians, all your energy and concentration gets sapped out when the temperature is that hot. If the temperature was anything near that, add the body heat of the crowd of fans in an enclosed space and you're immediately talking about unplayable circumstances.

Anyone insulting ToD for trying to change these circumstances through protest is clearly missing some part of this equation.
(last year)  #42 xmCarchp

every1 complaning the comment asians dont sweat or whatever, terrible excuse, ur all just stupid people.
ToD was refering to heat tolerance. being himself from france, compared to the rough summer from china (my country highest temperature rate in summer is around 36°C and china is higher).

and what legato said is totally right, dont base ur oppinions on what looks like a rant + ur ignorance on the subject.
(last year)  #43 kittensandmilk

its tods desicion when it comes down to it, hes trying to make a statement about better conditions for the players and that is his idea so we should respect it causei m sure most of you here never had to play at a pro level while in china in 40 degrees Celsius
(last year)  #44 SoLe

#40 well a person of his caliber and considering his undefeated streak the day before, in an environment with much more cooler atmoshphere, I guess it somewhat justifies that statement. I'd love to see ToD play Moon on comfortable conditions.

You're clearly too shortsighted to see ToD sought redemption by seeking to play the 3rd placing match. Your hatred and bias against ToD is so evident. He had no right but he attempted to do it for those fans who missed out and perhaps wanted to see another great game.

I love it how you completely ignore all poistive parts of ToD's blog and actions, proves my point even further.
