No SC1 or SC2 is a huge mistake by the WCG. In the US, the only chances they had of drawing crowds was to add Halo, WoW or SC2

It just says the first 7 games have been shown on the WCG site... these are most likely not the final games.

Yeah, its not necessarily final. I can't see how WCG would exclude SC1 AND SC2. I am also really surprised QL, WoW and Halo all left off this list considering the venue.

No kidding, you Yanks love bad games like Halo, but are good at QL and WoW, no IdeA (sublte?) why they wouldn't announce SCBW or SC2 now though :(

If it isn't in the final list... fml.

I understand that this may not be the final list, but: http://www.wcg.com/6th/fun/eventzone/200912_want/want.asp. Hundreds of pages requesting DotA for WCG 2010. What's the point of asking people what they want if WCG isn't going to listen? If WCG wants to attract a crowd maybe they should listen to their feedback.

Then, after all of that, WCG adds Warcraft III Ladder when even the players of that game admit the scene is dead, they were even saying that before SC2 was out.

I really hope WCG adds DotA, because right now their list is looking pretty poor.

The answer is simple: The DotA community.

It's way too elitist and hostile to anyone not in it.

Just because you decided a long time ago that the DotA community sucked and chose to focus on the negative -- meanwhile ignoring all of the positive -- aspects of the community does not mean DotA's community isn't up to par.

I'm not ignoring the positive. I just think the negative outweighs the positive. I played dota professionally for gods sake. I posted dota news on D-A.com. I started my media career covering DOTA. I like the game, I like the community.

It's loyal, it's active, it's zealous, its enormous, but...the community is very immature, hostile, elitist and obstinate. Those are not characteristics that make tournaments want to invest (often, not always).

Think of how many public, inhouse, private league games you have people cursing and shouting noob in at each other in DOTA, and compare that to say team leagues in WC3, Garena channels and the like. Compare it to WoW even, where there is not only a skill floor and learning curve, but a gear floor and learning curve as well.

There is a huge difference in attitudes towards outsiders and those with lesser skill.

I have yet to see any DotA related thread not going into flaming and trolling and ultimately, euro vs asia...

Not to mention the frankly unexciting nature of DotA; not everyone can watch and enjoy DotA.

SC will depend on the mobilization of their community or if enough people have gone over to SC2 beta to not really care about SC1.

no sc no watch...HOWEVER, if blizz manages to release sc2 before WCG then it might be interesting...
