Loveen: DotA is my career

blight, loveen, nirvana, sponsor

The man behind Nirvana, Loveen, was recently interviewed by Replays.net. myMYM.com has the full translation for you below.

Just before November 2009's SMM, China cD was having trouble travelling to Malaysia due to their sponsorship problems. cD's attendance to SMM was almost canceled until they managed to find a sponsor at the eleventh hour after appealing to the public. They were saved by a Chinese student studying overseas in the US by the name of China Loveen along with his father's company.

After three months, Loveen has once again made big plans with the announcement of sponsorship for his new teams Internationa- Nirvana.Int, Nirvana.CN & Nirvana.Girl. Expect more surprises in 2010 from Loveen, and his team of fully-fledged superstars in Nirvana.Int. To better facilitate your understanding, myMYM.com has the full translation ready for you below, so read on to find out more about the chinese enigma and some interesting information that you never knew.

This is an interview from Replays.Net, let's start by introducing yourself to the readers^^
Hi everyone, i am Loveen. I am happy to see everybody again, hahaha.

After a few months you had once again brought us an even more exciting & suprising news, how did you come to the decision of sponsoring 3 teams at the same time?
Even though I did stuffs in a low profile, still could not escape from your claws. Since sponsoring cD, I had hoped to make DotA my career. This is mainly because I like this game, and my family supports me, so I started planning for this. I hope to create the best DotA organisation in China, so the teams under our flag must be the best!

Let's start with Blight.Int, how did you guys came together?
After sponsoring cD, I had been secretly carrying cD's tag while playing in Garena, haha. Then Demon saw my ID & came to talk to me, after some chatting we became friends. After the formation of Blight.Int, I had been planning my own DotA organisation. Demon mentioned that they need a new sponsor, so this idea of having an international team came to me, just like Eryc's , but i believe I can do much better.

How did the name Nirvana come along?
We had been thinking a team name for very long, but none satisfied us. Then we thought, since both Nirvana.cn & Nirvana.Int both had impressive results & had "reborned", thus the name Nirvana was chosen. (Nirvana here meant Phoenix)

So did everyone agree & supported this name?
Haha, still ok. Demon & Zhou (from cD) also think it's not bad, so we decided to stick with this, save some energy too.

How did you judge the value of this team?
No judgement is needed, their performance speaks for itself. Since the 5 "gods" are formed, in my memory they had only lost a single round, & that was mainly due to KuroKy using Goblin. They have already achieved an 'unbeatable' status in Europe, so I am sure everyone will get to see even more bizarre heroes being used.

Who do you like most in Nirvana.int?
I am closest with Demon, Merlini is most handsome, & Kuroky is a chubby little guy. Kinda hard to choose. I guess i'll just pick Demon, since he wouldnt find any excuses to avoid playing with me.

So Nirvana.int will be an online team?
There will be a huge DotA event that will be created in China sometime this year. Nirvana.int will be going to China as they had been hoping to play against China's top teams. In fact, the guys must have always been wanting to go to play in China all along.

This means that in 2010, other than sponsoring a DotA organisation, you will also be creating a big DotA event, something like China's SMM?
Yup, I guess I do not need to keep it as a secret anymore, hopefully it could be held. This will need strong support from everyone, then only we will see a "DotA World Cup" in China.

How's the preparation for the tourney?
It still has not really materialized as we just formed our DotA organisation and there is a lot of things that needs to be considered for the teams. Such as our training ground, logo, rental, a new website and what tourneys will our international team participate in.

Would you mind revealing some extra details of the tourney they will participate in? Such as the prize distribution etc.
I will tell you some details about Int ok. I will sponsor Int to join big international competitions such as SMM, DTS & ESWC. As for the prize distribution, the majority will go to them. I only hope that they will get more Championship to provide me with better sponsorship & favours from commercial companies.

Back to the local scene, did you contact team leader cD.insence about your sponsorship exactly after they disbanded, or it was discussed and somehow agreed upon even before the disbandment?
Should be after the disbandment then we started to have some official discussions. Zhou's ambition & determination towards the professional DotA scene had touched me, I believe he will have the ability to create a name of his own.

During our first interview, you stated you wished to sign the whole cD team if given a chance, but now that ChaoRen & 34 had left for another organisation, is there any regret?
ChaoRen and I did chat when they disbanded, and I feel that reunion & separation in the DotA world is already something usual, so no matter where everyone goes, we are still brothers.

Does that meant that you did invite them but they rejected?
No, at that time nothing was confirmed, we merely having a normal chat. No one can foresee the future, just hope that everyone will have a nice place where they belong to.

Have the players for Nirvana.cn discussed & confirmed? When they will start their offline training?
Basically it's decided. For China's team, the choice of players and their rosters are fully up to Zhou and XiaoBai, I believe that they will choose the right players. A few of them are famous players from collapsed teams, haha. After  Chinese New Year they will start their training life together, hopefully they can get along well & achieve top results.

That means you are only responsible for the sponsorship support and less on the management of the team? This is quite different from Eryc.
Who says, I am the boss of the organisation! All of them listen to me, haha. It's only the roster, after all they are professional players, of cause it's up to their choice.

At the beginning of the year, various organisations had changes to their roster in the hope of results in this year,  so do you think that Nirvana.cn could get top results in various tournament in 2010?
I believe that my team will be able to achieve great results, even though there's so many skilled players locally. But this is also a good thing, as with more strong teams, than only could DotA scene be improved since monopoly will only bring harm to the scene.

Do you think that your team have advantages compared to other local teams?
I dare not say that we are better than the others, but players-wise i dont think we will lose to other teams, moreover we will pay attention to every rivals, learn from each other & improve our shortcomings.

Will the two Nirvanas train together often & exchange strategies, combining both Asian & Europe styles thus creating an own new style?
Naturally they will play along together. Through that, they can both learn from each other and learn what they need from the other. After all both styles are different, what I hope to see most is a combination that will create a new style. If the delay issues are acceptable, I hope they can learn from each other often. An internal competition should be very interesting, we could play a Father Cup or Supper Cup, haha.

It was said that you will be building a girl's team. Any names so far? Nirvana.GIRL?
Hehe, I guess it will be that way.

What's your purpose of creating a girl's team? To ease your way towards girls?
Haha, that's an evil thought. After watching the recent Iron Lady competition, i think building a girl's team could hold a bright future too.

So by creating a girl's team, do you plan to send them to offline tourneys and get some results? Or it's mainly for publicity?
The girls team should be confident of themselves, i too hope that they could reveal their true potential. If i plan to use them for publicity only, that will be counter-productive. They should at least beat PMS back & regain China's DotA girls' pride.

I've seen alot of overhyped news on female DotA, which didnt materialise in the end. I guess the players of the girls team will be preparing for future 10-man offline battle against Nirvana.cn?
Hehe, we could organise this type of activity, make a rally for our organisation, and i dont think the girls' team will lose!

Oh, so powerful? Let's talk about a girl DotA team which you would be proud of?
The leader of my girl's team is XiaoBaMM, and also another girl from Nanjing. As for the other players it's not confirmed. I've been helpng the team leader to promote around hoping that any talented girl players could contact her.

So I wish you that all 3 of your teams could achieve great results, let's share anything you would like to say as to end our interview.
Year 2010, here we come! Hopefully all 3 teams could achieve top results, conquering the West, wrestle the East & revenge against PMS! On the other hand, i would like to thank my dad for supporting my career choice. Being able to sit on the shoulder of my parent, there's both motivation & pressure, hope that i will be a "rich 2nd generation" who could contribute to the community.

Note: Loveen mentioned that if everything goes on smoothly, the secretive huge DotA tourney could be held during the summer.

i actually never heard of a nirvana other than that certain buddhist concept (and a certain band), and i was really confused how nirvana can mean phoenix.
i just didnt get the logic of "something is reborn like a phoenix from the ashes and all, hey lets call it nirvana, like nirvana as in phoenix"

Nice career choice. Now all you gotta do is fund everything (from tournaments, player traveling, hosting qualification sections, grand finals, hotel cost), make it look like something huge, create consumer hype (and confidence), make other competitors fear for their lives because you're a giant with money, make star players idols, make contracts with the giants in television, mass advertise... basically become what Blizzard should have been.

cool stuff this whole thing. i personally think in the beginning this will make teams very very very motivated when they are playing against nirvanas.

either to show off to other "loveens" lurking around in various part of the world or just to put pressure to nirvana guys since they are earning so much money and basically living the dota dream.

exciting months ahead!
