Future wins NSL3 Chinese Qualifer

The playoff stage of the NSL3 qualifier ended today with Shenghui 'Future' Li defeating Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng in the grand final 2-0

There was just money on the line at the end, but the tournament win marks the first major offline win in China Future's career. Future managed to avoid playing China Xuwen 'Infi' Wang and China Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li the whole tournament who eliminated each other twice before each being defeated by China TeD.

The top six players qualify for the Neo Star League main event where Chinese and Korean players will play for near $10,000 in prizes. In addition, the top three players qualify for WCG 2010 Chinese Finals. The top four finishers are all from World Elite, demonstrating their grasp on the Chinese scene at the moment.

NSL3 Final Placings:

GoldChina Orc Future - $585 and Ticket to WCG National Finals
SilverChina Undead TeD - $290 and Ticket to WCG National Finals
BronzeChina Human Sky - $150 and Ticket to WCG National Finals
4th China Human Infi - $150
5th / 6th China Orc Wulin - $150
5th / 6th China Nightelves Sai - $150

In addition to today's final, the groups for the international phase of Neo Star League 3 were drawn which are below:

Group A:

China Undead TeD
Korea, South Nightelves ReMinD
Korea, South Orc WhO
China Orc Wulin

Group B:

China Human Sky
Korea, South Nightelves SocceR
Korea, South Orc Lyn
China Nightelves Sai

Group C:

China Human Infi

Group D:

The group stage will start on February 24th.

It did irk me a bit that Future didn't play Sky or Infi, they eliminated each other, and then TeD beat the other one. This happened both in Upper and Lower Bracket. Still impressive that Future beat TeD twice including 2-0 once, but it felt a little like Rock Paper Scissors.
