Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips has written an in depth article looking at the European Warcraft III scene.
In this in depth look at the European scene, Malystryx outlines the reason for European Warcraft's downfall, as well as a look as to why the Chinese and Korean scenes are still doing well.
He speaks with several prominent figures in e-sports, such as Alexander “TheSlash” Muller, as well as several players and managers.
Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips:
"The shrinking of the European Warcraft3 scene is not just a theory; it is fact. Whether it is dead on the other hand is another matter entirely. Europe will continue to produce new players to fill the ranks as it always has done, and with WCIP, ZOTAC and WC3L there is still a good platform for them to develop."

The game has been stagnant for years. It fell off around 07. It's been stable but in a stagnant fashion for far too long. It's shame really because it's probably the greatest game I've ever played and it's given me memories I'll have for the rest of my life.
