The virus H1H1 strikes again leaving Niko 'naSu' Kovanen bed bound and PowerGaming unable to attend Dreamhack Winter.
Finnish team have struck some bad luck with
Niko 'naSu' Kovanen contracting the AH1N1 (swine flu) thus leaving him unable to attend Dreamhack Winter. Consequently, Power Gaming have no other option but to pull out of the event where they were drawn in Group F along side
SoA and
2easy4.
This ofcourse is a shock the Counter-Strike community as the Fins have showed great potential after an impressive game against AGAiN and a 5th-8th placing at WCG 2009. The team have also shown amazing skill in other international events, with 3rd place at Intel Extreme Masters II LA, 4th at ESWC Masters and 3rd at Intel Extreme Masters III Dubai, showing that they are one of the teams on top of the world.
Quoting, Ben Woodward, Managing Director of Power Gaming (to HLTV.org):
”Over the past 5 days we've wondered where naSu has been, as the public may of noticed we've used a stand-in in our last 2 Extreme Masters games in place of him. He came online last night to inform us he's been ill with the H1N1 virus that's seen him stuck in bed with a 40c temperature; he’s currently on medication and recovering.
In light of this news we'll unfortunately be skipping Dreamhack winter, our participation at next month's WEM tournament hangs in the balance, we may need to take a stand-in to the event, this will be decided over the coming days. Niko is making a good recovery but is far from fit enough to travel.”
