No Romanians at DreamHack Winter

dhw, jongkoping, romania, sweden

The Romanian DreamHack Winter qualifiers were cancelled due to a lack of interest from sponsors and financial problems.

Recently the Romanian DreamHack organisers, [Kick Off Events SRL], announced that their qualifications will be held online, instead of at a LAN event. Today, they have said that there will be no tournament at all. Unfortunately, the company wasn't able to attract sponsors, and were lacking money to send the winning team to Jongkoping.

There is still a chance for the Romanian teams to play at DreamHack Winter, but only if they attend the BYOC qualifiers in Sweden, but it is unlikely to see Romanian teams to pay for their trip to Jongkoping by themselves without a secured place in the tournament.

We still don't know what will happen with the Romanian Qualification spot in the tournament. Most likely the organisers of Dreamhack will invite another team to play or simply add a fifth spot in the BYOC tournament. Unfortunately, most teams lose their opportunity to play in the more prestiges tournaments due to the lack of financial backing.

SOA came in through a vacant invite slot, Romanian slot is still lying vacant. TEG might put an effort to show up at Dreamhack encouraged by an impressive play at WCG.
