IEST: Chinese finals

beijing, iest, infi, sky

After WCG now the IEST in Beijing is about to start as by today the Chinese national finals will be played.

In 2007, IEST was one of the biggest tournaments not only in China, but the whole world, but lack of sponsors kept the tournament from happening in 2008, now it returns to Beijing, immediately following WCG Grand Finals in Chengdu.

The process of adding Chinese players to the tournament is long and strenuous. They hold local qualifiers for a national tournament. The location of the ten tournaments are Shenyang, Wuhan, Nanjin, Beijing, Jinan, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Chengdu.

Today the nation finals of China are being hold in Beijing, featuring the following groups:

Group A:

China Undead TeD
China Human Sky
China Human hebestar
China Orc Like

Group B:

China Human Infi
China Orc Wulin
China Undead anonhe
China Orc HaiDao

Group C:

China Nightelves suhO
China Nightelves Sai
China Human Yumiko
China Human TH000

Group D:

China Nightelves ForDream
China Nightelves tlby
China Orc Future
China Orc Fly100%

Results:

Full overview with all group stage results and brackets are posted here in our coverage item as well as further information.

Four Chinese players will face the international players who are invited to IEST via fan voting and are:

Netherlands Orc EG.Grubby
Spain Orc MYM]LucifroN
France Human ToD[M]
Korea, South Nightelves WMF.Moon
Korea, South Orc SK.Lyn
Korea, South Nightelves MYM]ReMinD
Korea, South Nightelves SK.Check
Russian Fede- Undead EG.Happy

IEST begins November 20th and lasts for just one day as it comes to its end on 21st with the grand final. A Chinese live stream for all matches will be provided. This makes many players stay in China after the World Cyber Games in order to play this event in Beijing.

The prize money pool for the Chinese final is 5 000 Dollar while the overall grand final will feature 23 000 Dollar.

O_O @ team kor/europe. surprised that Tod is there :S isn't he like semi-retired? nice to see him anyway! ^^; prefer thorzain/dowaQ over lucifron tbh.

too bad soccer didn't get chosen : ( only 4 can make it! disappointed also that focus/space didn't make it :/
