myMYM's content manager, Jonas 'The1Crow' Gebhardt, was told the estimate of the amount of viewers that tuned in to the live stream to watch the Counter-Strike Grand Finals
The first map, de_nuke, of the Counter-Strike 1.6 Grand Finals between
fnatic and
AGAIN has been one of the most intense CS actions the eSports community has seen in a while. The Poles were in the lead by three rounds in the first half but fnatic managed the first map in a tie.
The game then went into four intense over times as everytime the Poles took the lead, fnatic would bounce back to force it into another OT. However, after over two hours of action to decide the winner of the first map, the players were moved to another stage in order to get the live broadcast back on schedule.
myMYM's content manager,
Jonas 'The1Crow' Gebhardt, has talked to the WCG official responsible for the press and was told that an estimate of 7 Million viewers were watching the live stream during the first game of the CS grand finals.
This WCG is said to have the most craziest fans and possibly more spectators than any other WCG, which almost gives the feeling of being at a football match. The main stage with four thousand seating is completely full, making it impossibly to walk in there.
Even though it is completely packed inside there are 10 meter long lines outside of people who are still trying to get in. The1Crow call this "the most craziest and most visited esports event that I have been within 3 years".
Even professional Starcraft commentator made a joke saying that if there was a fire, everyone at WCG would die. This WCG proves that China can indeed be compared to Korea in terms of eSports fans and the atmosphere makes it worth going there.
