Pretty much all of the matches that were played did not nearly end in a surprise. Although some of the two matches that were expected to be very close turned out to be completely one sided for more part.

Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin proved to be to much for Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, as he simply played his game smarter and out-microed Sky in most of the fights. The Chinese fans were heartbroken but in the end they know that anything can happen at this level of competition and Sky still is and will always be China's Hero.

Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang took down who is two games without losing once. Although, Du Seop 'WhO' Chang did put up a good fight in the last game and nearly made a comeback with only a Blademaster, Tauren Chieftan and Raider. Unfortunately his Spirit Walkers were out of mana in the last fight and could not disenchant the cyclones coming from Moon's Talons.

All of the matches from the first round ended with the top seeded players from the groups proceeding to the next round with a 2:0 victory.
