The parent company of ESWC, Games Services, has announced today that it is going into liquidation, which means that it has ceased all the operations.

As we reported earlier, ESWC decided to postpone their Grand Final to the last quarter of 2009 due to lack of sponsors (Click here to read the news). And today, ESWC's parent company Games Services has gone bankrupt due to "facing a serious cash flow crisis," according to Matthieu Dallon, President of ESWC.

Statement from Games-Services:

"Games-Services SA ceases all activities. Its liquidation has been pronounced by the Commercial Court of Paris March 30, 2009. In consequence, all the employees and managers have been relieved from their duties and laid off April 2nd, by the adjudication. The process of liquidation, which is starting this week, will notably organize the potential trade-in or resale of the company’s assets including the Electronic Sports World Cup and Overgame."

And it is still known whether ESWC 2008 paricipants can receive their deserved money or not, because they have to wait one year in order to get last year's Prize Money.

But ESWC Asia Maters, which takes place on 2nd-5th May, will be run as scheduled because it is supported by Korean sponsors, not Games Services.
