In the long interview, Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert gave his thoughts on KODE5 US and EM III Global Finals and also shed light on the current EG.usa.
"In the match against alternate on de_inferno what was it about the way alternate were playing which posed the most problems? It seemed like alternate completely locked the CT half down so how much did you know about their style of play on the map? Was the scoreline a result of EG failing to execute, picking the wrong strats to run or alternate reading your team well?
Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert: Well, we weren't prepared for this event to say the least, so to play a team like alternate who was feeling really good, just coming off a 2nd place finish in the EM European finals, was tough for us. After the first gun round we won, when it was about 2-2, I noticed the setup they used when we beat them was one mousesports likes to use a lot. So after that I kind of had an idea how they would play A. But, regardless of that, they placed an AWP at each site and just started stacking rounds and it eventually led to I think a 12-3 or 13-2 half. I'm not sure what how much adapting was necessary for them, but they definately anticipated properly and just started dominating us and gained a load of momentum on their home turf."

"So diagnose the problem as you see it for EG: What does this team lack which will make this line-up of players more successful than recent tournament results have shown? It's very easy to wave the CGS wand and say that the other four players are still adapting to 1.6 competition so give me some reasons you can nail to the wall. If these five players play with the exact same roles and styles they have have done so far but execute the strats with better timing and chemistry is that going to translate into wins against the top tier teams? Are any of the EG players lacking in the amount of skill they can manifest vs. their potential or past expectations and as a result not getting the kills that are required to make this team work?
Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert: First off, I think their technical abilities haven't really gone anywhere, maybe a little faded from playing a game that doesn't exactly help their cause for 2 years, but at the same time I don't think thats our problem at the moment. There are fads that go in and out of CS and all the top teams notice them and they change their tactics to survive in the CS world. Right now our team is basically trying to implement the new style into our learning process. That includes everything from a certain type of communication, to a certain style of playing CS. If you watch a team like mTw you'll notice how a lot of their defense isn't really just always locking down a spot, it's the flow in their rotation and the finesse in their teamwork that helps them outskill a team in a 3v3 or a 4v4.
Back when my team-mates played, it was a bit more about locking down spots and using really good basic teamwork to stop rushes as a team. Now, what we need to do is get on that page of teamwork and create that flow. We're trying at the moment to make the most out of practice we can get here in the US, and after we feel content with the practice here and we're ready to take it to the next level, we plan on going to Stockholm for a nice 1-2 week bootcamp to pick up the pace a bit. I'm still very confident in what we can do, because I know when we reach that comfort zone in our teamwork, that's when our individual innovativeness gets reactivated."
