Drastic changes in the WC3L system

The new WC3L system creates new possibilities in a time where teams decided to concentrate on solo events - only two players per team are needed to participate in the WC3L.
The trend of reducing the teams rosters to a minimum (Article: The End of Warcraft 3 Teams?) finally effected the WC3L. The league supervisor 
Sebastian 'Baschi' Weishaar mentioned that "this change is the best possible approach to ensure the continued participation of all the top teams and players on the one hand and to preserve the general concept of the WC3L as a team league on the other hand."
The limit of having a minimum of five players in a team has been nullified - atleast two players have to be in a clans roster to participate in the WC3L Season XV. Five points per clanwar will be given away in a system similar with the Davis Cup in the world of tennis. Two players have to be chosen to play the solo games; the lineup in the 2on2 match is independend from this choice. The system has been used in the Starcoma Games Convention Challenge 2007 already.

Explanation: Each clan must appoint two solo players per clanwar who will play four 1on1-matches:
- As in tennis, the first seeded player will play against the second seeded player in the beginning.
- Afterwards the 2on2 will be played with two members of each team (either solo players or a different 2on2 team).
- Finally, No. 1 seeds of both teams will be playing against each other, just like both No. 2 seeds.
All matches will be played in best-of-three; the starting map will be determined as usual. All the changes won't affect the WC3L Season XIV Playoffs or the running WC3L Season XV Qualifier.

Today we are celebrating the WC3L's 6th birthday making the WC3L one of the longest running and oldest esports leagues in the world. During the last 6 years the WC3L has undergone a lot of changes, some being small in nature like the addition of new maps and some being bigger in nature like the removal of the second 2v2 match in season VIII. We have always made these changes based on what we thought was necessary to maintain the WC3L's status and reputation and based on what we thought was the best for the fans and the Warcraft 3 community.
We will be making yet another of these changes today, this one probably being one of the biggest if not the biggest change so far, and it is my belief that this change is the best possible approach to ensure the continued participation of all the top teams and players on the one hand and to preserve the general concept of the WC3L as a team league on the other hand.

one thing we can definately say is the fact that there will be a lot more top replays (imagine WE vs. MYM - sky infi/ted grubby moon), so this would be a nice point for it.

I do have the same feelings, no more UD in those match-ups.

I'm really looking forward these changes but I am also curious to see what the teams/pla It will favour more Orcs and Night-Elves imo. | |

for the start its a good option, but i dont think they put big efforts in thinking about it now teams with 3-5 nearly same good pla maybe they should add at least 1 1on1. or make the size of the league to 20 teams and let the top teams have more than 1 squad. and bo1 or bo2 matches. | |

honestly, i like the system a lot. pretty much brings up new teams, who dont have such a big budget, but who are able to get bigger success, on the other side, i hope we will see more teams in the wc3l therefore.

Dang this is AWFUL
1.Even when these changes were not made so that clans would drop their pla 2. Having the possibility that 2 pla 3. I can hardly see arising clans promoting any kind of clan spirit, which in most times make cws interesting and fun to watch/predict. 2 pla 4. We might see many teams arising, since many top pla I really think they could have thought of some better ideas =( | |
