DH: *diamondZ issued explored + interview

dh, dmz, dreamhack

Europe DiamondZ e.V. just got knocked out of the 2nd round of the winner bracket due to computer issues in their team, which lead to the team receiving a default loss. The horny emos were going to be dmZ's second opponent in the tournament, but due to computer problems in dmZ camp, the team received a defloss for taking too long to fix it. With this loss, dmZ are now in the loser bracket where they are going to face Fountainfest.

Other favourites such as Mom equals toilet, SK-gaming, MeetYourMakers and Mousesports are still in the winner bracket and are all currently playing their 3rd round match.

Stay tuned for more information as we will make a videointerview with the team later today!

Update: The horny emos did not agree with the admin decision to give dmZ a default loss, therefore they talked with the DotA administration and told them to change dmZ's loss to a win, since they saw dmZ as the better team and more qualified to play on in the winner bracket.

21:13: Met won vs Flygarjävlar and are due to that in the quarter-finals.
22:10: MYM, mouz, SK and dmZ are also in the quarter-finals.

Update 2: We caught up with Nukes- and Aldiiz- who both are a part of the horny emos, for a short interview about the whole issue with their match against dmZ.

(Aldiiz- and Nukes- from The horny emos)

What was the whole issue with your match against dmZ?

Well we had to play against dmZ in the 2nd round of the tournament, the match was scheduled for 19 CET and we tried to get in touch with them from 19 to 19:20 CET without luck. Sond then answered us at IRC and told us that Swoopie had computer problems and that he would need to get a new computer. We agreed to wait for Swoopie to get a new computer and for them to set it up, but around 19:40 we were starting to get a bit impatient, so we got in touch with them again and asked how far they were in their progres, we were then told that they still had problems and they only need 10 min more to fix it.

We then again agreed to wait for Swoopie, so he could fix the computer. At 20:10 the admins told us that we had to hurry up with the match, that we had to start playing it asap, but at that time there were still only 4 players from dmZ ingame with Swoopie missing. At 20:20 the admins then told us that dmZ got default loss and that we won the match, after that most of us went to get some food while Aldiiz- stayed behind at our computers.

dmZ showed up and talked with Aldiiz- about the whole issue, trying to explain that they were ready to play 30 sec after the admins gave them the default loss and that they would really like to play the match. Aldiiz- then decided to give them the win, because they not only are a top professional DotA team, but also because he did not think it was fair that we would just get the win when  it was not their fault that they had computer problems.

Did you all agree on giving dmZ default win?

Actually no, the rest of us really wanted to play the match, eventhough we knew from the beginning that our odds were bad against dmZ. Nevertheless we are fine with the decision, since we rather wanna give the win to the team who actually deserves it.

Do you think the admins were too harsh with the decision?

No, not really. They have a tight schedule for all the matches and they need them to be played within that timeframe, so its an understandable decision, we just did not really agree with it.

Yeah.. Huge missunderstandings tho. I was a player in "The horny emos". And the team was not agreed with the decision. But I guess this was the most fair and we wish DmZ GL in the rest of the tournament.

Good luck and I hope you can reach a really good place dmZ.
It was not enough time to talk to my mates and I had to make a really fast decision I made it to keep a really good tournament and the computer problems can every player have, so I gave the win with alot of talk to the admins.
Maybe wrong Maybe Right?
Atleast I think I made the best. My team support me anyway if you look 2-3 hours after the decision.
And one more time Good Luck dmZ

Really nice sportsmanship there, although such a decision should be made as a team. To bad you wont play in the loserbracket. Best of luck

I agree totally in what you say about the team should make decisions like that but it wasn't possible since they were eating and I had 5min to make a decisions like that. Maybe I should have said no we have the win and want to keep it. But when we see they have good chance to reach the top why not give them a better chance? since we will lose in 2-3 rounds in loserbracket.
Now it's over and now dmZ must win :)

Stop trying to talk yourself out of it with lousy arguments.. :S

It's nice sportmanships but kinda weird because if Dmz is really that good going to Loser Bracket wouldn't really be a problem. It's not like they were out of the whole tournament instantly. :S
