MYM.DotA to DH with PlaymatE; Maelk interview

With Europe MYM.DotA being down to only 6 players after slahser's departure, the team had to bring in one of its American players, to be able to field five men for the DreamHack tournament in the coming weekend.

Now it has become clear that the team is not able to bring in either United State- Ben 'Merlini' Wu or Clinton 'Fear' Loomis for the event, consequently being a man short. To fill in the open spot, the team has called up former Mouz-player Denmark Amel 'PlaymatE' Barudzija to assist it.

PlaymatE is a long-time friend of the team, and has played with the Maelk, MaNia- and Pusher-Street before, as he is a part of the Danish National team.

We caught up with MYM's teamleader Denmark Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen to hear more about the addition of PlaymatE for the event.

Attending DreamHack without Fear or Merlini is arguably a big setback for you. Are your expectations with PlaymatE in the team different than if any of your American players would have participated?
It is very unfortunate that Fear was unable to come, but we found a substitute for him as fast as we could. Naturally the level of the team isn't the same as it would have been with either of our Americans given both the experience, synergy and chemistry of our team.

What does PlaymatE bring to the table, and will you be able to utilize it at DreamHack, given the limited practice time you have had with him?
PlaymatE fills in the gap of roles that Fear left and its his nature to play the same kind of style and heroes and Fear does, so in that sense it was the most reasonable standin we could hope for. In terms of practice, it was very last minute, but we have been trying to make the best of it and I'm confident we can still trap the mice and dispose the Swedes.

Not being able to bring your Americans in for DreamHack, does it make you think about adding a 5th Danish/European players, so you are able to attend events with a stable lineup?
After the departure of slahser he have been considering whether a new addition to the roster is needed, but we don't want to rush things since both chemistry and synergy play an important role to us.

What are your expectations for the tournament?
I expect us to come out on top and if things do not go according to plan, at least a spot in the grand final. It is a new version and all the imbalances are yet to be found, so I think we can expect an interesting tournament with a few good upsets. Who knows, maybe one of the top contenders goes out in the early stages of the tournament.

fear is hell of a player but from my experience plejmate is betetr player as pure carry. he wasnt so active recently and he takes game lightly but he is surelly capable to be betetr than fear. and yes i played in two team with him so i know it from experience not from " site news" like u do probably.

What 'arguments' do you have lol? Fear is a better last hitter, better farmer, better at map awareness (e.g. staying out of trouble until he can dominate), and has better ability to dominate once hes farmed, which he always is since he inevitably has the most creep kills in every game he plays. That's the DEFINITION of better carry. To say otherwise would be a misunderstanding of what a carry player is. And as for you 'playing' with such players, that has absolutely nothing to do with your knowledge of dota players.

if u think carry player is the one who only farms meanwhile his team is winnign the game allready u r perfectly wrong.
if u watch DH reps u will see the clear difference between passive carry ( fear ) and active carry ( playmate ).
after that answer one question to yourself : which one is more enjoyable to watch and through this better ?
answer is simple. and fear is rly nice farmer ( not the best in the world for sure thou ) but he makes a lot of bad decisions in bigger fights.
anyways as i stated above you have no real experience from "in-game" with such ppl so plz dont make yourself look even worse. blind fanboys are the worst thing in community -.-

Interesting....Fear is playing the carry...has more creep kills....and has also managed 11 kills to playmate's 4 (who is playing a gang machine in tinker). It sure looks like Fear is and will continue to be the carry because he's way better at it. And he also has clearly been in more 'action' against the other team. So don't try and tell me that playmate is a better carry player than fear. L2p pls.

Ok Ok, clearly 11-3 must be 'passive' carry. Actively getting involved in EVERY major battle, is 'passive' carry. Killing every single other hero on the map is 'passive' carry. Domintaing in 5v5 teambattles is 'passive' carry. You are just angry because i have immediate proof of my argument. man u show a screen from middle of the game where playmate is playing support/gagning hero on very tough lane vs shaker and potm ... he is wardign till the midgame and constantly joining gangs. obviously he wont farm for life to let fear farm with better carry hero like naix. u missing the point again dude. fear is better naix than playmate but that doesnt change a fact overall playmate is better active carry player.
this is one game and believe me mym plays hell of a games now. they had pretty much better gqanging combo and naix is very nice counter for shaker with his avatar skill ... that just sums up that game.

and if u watch it closely 95% of all big fights are initiated by ks.int to GANG naix - then mym players with other ganging heroes coutner and aid him in the big fight turning it for themselves.

u clearly played ot few games dude and your knowledge is lacking of major things ... becouse ? becouse u base ur shit on replays.
fyi i played recently in one team with amel same as over 1 year ago. i know his playstyle from the games we played together not from the reps.

get over it. fear is great player as i said before he is brilliant with few heroes but playmate is better with other ones. mostly with the ones whcih can roam and gang and be carry too ( ei skele, bh, weaver and so on ) thats active carry.

seriously stop wasting my time - go play dota instead of tryign to convince me - dota player from the very beginings with national team experience into your bullshit.

You continue to use the phrase 'active' carry like fear doesn't gang. He gets more kills than anyone on mym just about every game, and somehow you keep refering to this as passive...if he's always in the fights and killing the other team....how is he being passive? And if the other team comes to gang him, and he still wins the battle, then even more to my point that fear is imba carry player.
