Nine matches have passed in the Intel Extreme Masters III Continental Finals Americas 2008 in Philadelphia, USA and the four playoff teams have been decided. Every single meeting on day 1 demonstrated the huge skill differences between the participants. Halftime scores of 12-3 and 13-2 became almost commonplace, appearing in two-thirds of the cases.
Group B finished first with hardly any surprising results.
Made in Brazil snatched three quick wins with 23-7, 23-7 and 16-6. They were the favourites and they did not disappoint, followed by
x3o, the old Paragon of Virtue that upset mTw.AMD at Global Challenge Los Angeles.
Group A, on the other hand, saw a shocking dropout from
EG.ca but their American counterparts still held the expectations for competing against
Gravitas Gaming for the top spot in A. Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert, however, did not play for the American Evil Geniuses and that could have contributed to their horrible beating by
MoB Gaming. EG was brutally hammered on de_train with a 12-3 half and they only snagged 3 rounds in the second half. A 16-6 stunning upset was the result as one of America's most respected teams lost to MoB's new lineup.
At 17:00 CET on November 21, 2008, Gravitas Gaming takes on x3o in the four-team playoffs while mibr fights MoB Gaming in the other half.
