WarCraft 3 trio, Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, Manuel  'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and Fredrik 'MaDFroG' Johansson, are to be featured in a long time awaited documentary movie called 'Beyond the game'. Further players like MYM]Moon and GG.ToD will be featured in the movie.

"Fingers type on a keyboard quick as lightning; eyes stare at a screen totally concentrated. Headphones smother war sounds. The movements are minimal; silence reigns.The world championship of the Warcraft computer game progresses in seeming stillness, while in the virtual environment players fight out hyperactive battles." With those words the movie is teased.

It will be open to public at the world's biggest documentary event called International Documentary Film Festival  Amsterdam, for the first time on November, 21st at 18:00 CET. Now the pre ticket sale did start and you can purchase with the links below:

Named ‘Beyond the Game’, the movie circles around the all-time rivalry of Grubby and Sky, specifically their clash at World Cyber Games 2007, Seattle. It goes through the life and career of those two superstars and tells the history from when Grubby won his first ESWC titles in 2005 and when 20-years old Sky beats the King of Orc in the same year in Singapore during the WCG. Until 2008 both players attend same tournaments and meet each other a couple of time on the battle field. Director Jose de Putter followed the players with his camera to events in China and around the globe to get a feeling of WarCraft 3 and especially the persons and characters Manuel Schhenkhuizen and Li Xiaofeng.

In another episode, MaDFroG’s life after his gaming career is on focus, picturing  the Undead legend far from gaming, living a regular life. The movie visits MaDFroG in his house in Sweden and gives a few about his post gaming life.

Jos de Putter says about the documnetary: "For me, the beauty of documentary filmmaking lies in the ability to make real portraits of real people during a period of time that is important to them, that defines them, and that in a way functions as a metaphor for where society is heading.
According to my taste, or preference, these portraits should concentrate on what is essential, which quite often means leaving out all kinds of ‘niceties’, that we encounter so often in documentaries."
