The world famous and award winning online role-playing game World of Warcraft is from today on entering the Meet Your Makers team and community.
In July 2007 the number of players of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft (WoW) reached 9.0 million people worldwide. In addition, 250,000 new computer gamers join the ever so popular universe of World of Warcraft every month. This same universe, with its millions and millions of dedicated fans, has via the Curse guild joined forces with one of the world´s leading e-sports organizations, Meet Your Makers (MYM).
Mark Peter Fries, CEO at Regroup Esports A/S, had the following to say upon the opening of a MYM.WoW team: ”Should we or should we not open up a WoW Guild and Arena team?, that question has echoed in the Regroup office’s for quite a while now and then a few months back we decided to go onward with the idea and see what options we had in terms of guilds and teams. After many talks with various guilds and teams the choice fell on the Curse Guild, with their almost 50 man strong PVE team and their 5v5 and 3v3 Arena team known as Log, they are known to be top notch on both the PVE and PVP part. The World of Warcraft game has so much to offer in Esports, sure it needs further development, but so did Counter-Strike when it came out and Blizzard is really working on developing the game for Esports in all, so hopes are high for yet another great Esports game.
MYM.WoW part 1: Player versus player
The new addition to the MYM organization, MYM.WoW, consists of MYM.PvP (the player versus player part of WoW) as well as MYM.PvE (the player versus environment part).
The PvP part of MYM.WoW originally formed at the start of The Burning Crusade, the first expansion pack of WoW. Today the 5v5 and 3v3 Arena team is known as “Log” which has kept the same players and setup that they started with, that is
Prophet (Warrior),
Peech (Shaman),
Mackelina (Paladin),
Sundo (Priest) and
Akina (Warlock). The team achieved a high rating at a very quick pace and recently placed 2nd at the Blizzard WoW European Regional Finals in Hamburg, Germany and are by that qualified to the World Finals at Blizzcon in the USA, which will be held in the beginning of August 2007.
“After our strong performance in Hamburg, we were glad to hear that a professional organization such as Meet Your Makers was interested in adding our team as their World of Warcraft squad. Of course we accepted their offer and will now proudly be playing as MYM.WoW,” says one of the new MYM.WoW players,
Johannes “Prophet” Korhonen.

MYM.WoW part 2: Player versus environment
The PvE part of MYM.WoW, formerly known as “Curse Guild”, has existed since the beginning of World of Warcraft and also long before that in previous games like Dark Age of Camelot. Some of the original members are still playing and some have quit. MYM.PvE is a multi national guild with the largest amount of members from Scandinavia.
“As leaders of Curse Guild we are proud to announce a new partnership with the major e-sports organization Meet Your Makers. They will offer us the support and backing that we need to bring the team to its full potential. We have existed as Curse for several years now but the time for us to move on to something new and exciting has come. Since the release of World of Warcraft we have been one of the top guilds competing for PvE progress and with the MYM partnership we believe that this will only improve in the future,” say Curse leaders Phil “Mek” Curry and Markus “Mackelina” Dahlgren.

but still someone should make a blog and explain to us noobs how this thing works - i mean is best guild the one that has 50+ no-life people that stare in screen 24/7 to pass same instance 200times because drop rate of an item is 1% so they all have best gear or are they actually intelligent people that just came to wow to play 3v3 5v5 arena, start with same equipment and show some nice teamwork+gosu skill at choosing what to wear of the stuff they have at disposal.

Thanks to all who welcomed us, though there were some rather intresting comments. I'd love to know what Milo- considers real eSports ti
Also to those who said they've tried watching few games and think it's boring, of course it is if you don't understand any subtleties of the game or don't feel the game itself is intresting. I'm not a great fan of watching games myself, but those few WC3 and SC games I've watched were lot more boring than the arena games I've seen. Might it be because I'm not at all intrested in them? But really its not worth going "pro" on........ and i like to see how many actually like to watch something thats impossible to follow.... OMG HE GOT EEEM 20 DOTS eeemmm he got oh yeah hes dead now...... AND NOW THE WARRIOR CHARGES AND PUTS HAMSTRING ON THE MAGE OMG THE WARRIOR GOT KILLED OMG

well if you played arena a bit more you could see that some mages can't die from warriors only :). There is alot of different teams with playst

Thanks for the warming welcomes. It feels great to be part of an organisation such as MYM.
To those who doubt WoW Arena being able to evolve into a "legit" eSport, we are here to prove you wrong. ;) Looking forward to the upcoming tournaments and you can all expect results. Professional gaming since 1996.

so i'm expecting a mini blog where you introduce us to the pvp/pve world :D whats the difference if eventually it all comes down to arena?
I've played a bit of arena till lvl50 and from what i've seen the good teams dont play much with their heads, dunno, i liked to hide my hunter placing traps by jumping at same time, then chobo rogue sneaks and wants to gank me from back only to find a trap placed there, but basically arena is all about finding nice class partner, then storm in with hunter and kill mage in 5sec since hunters are best arena dps if you ask me :D from what i've seen it's all about changing gear fast so that your equipment counters magic some guy will use on you, controlling char gets perfected anyway by the time you level him up so all that's left to make difference between "progamers" is teamwork and equipment choice. If force won't work, use greater force.

Allo.
to #60: Well, playing a bit of arena til' lvl 50 hardly qualifies to have tried Arena PVP as it is today. As many have mentioned its the variation of specs and classes clashing together that makes it intresting. For the Pve bit, its a cleared content as it is now, but blizzard always brings in new content (ie. instances, zones, questlines) for people like us to crack open and its litle of a challange to get them down amongst the first as many well knowen guilds world wide are out there doing what we do. Thanks for the welcoming, glad to be at your side. www.partanen.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=180&pos=82

well wow arena can be fun, you hunter+buddy mage playing arathi basin, you take the lumber camp and 5noobs come to take the hill - get killed, then 10 come- same, then 15 come and kickass ya. next time you play and once again you take lumber camp and 5-10guys come, see your names and simply turn around, that makes the game worth all the trouble of getting your char leveled:D
it seems that wow replaces the lack of need for constant improval of your skills by constant need of passing new instances, like a friend of mine lvl 70 said when i asked him doesnt he get bored - "there's always something to do" Last edited by Dendra at 01.08.2007, 00:17

well actually i think warriors are the best arena dps class, in 5on5 ;o they take the most damage, never go oom and hit their opponents with hell of a lot big numbers ez .. thats if they got bof ofc
arena is still at the beginning, and 5vs5 isnt just nuking the opponents in mere seconds. good teams manage to keep their pla http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=39827 http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=40021 both good examples of how 5vs5 arena works hyouro has a point though, it may look like that when you dont have deep knowledge of how the classes work and a lot depends on how a match is filmed and edited. Quoting fucker4ever: not possible :D gaming industry used to have poor graphics and companies focused on gameplay, games like homm and starcraft were made in such environment, nowadays we have lots of spoiled and bored rich kids and best way to spend money is to buy uber pc to spend time on uber nice games, since lotta kids play such games that require less skills than the older games it also attracts sponsors and tournaments are organised with nice prize pools - all in all we are moving towards an era where everything will depend on money and what's more profitable rather than playing games that require both brains and hands. If force won't work, use greater force.
