Breaking the hosting-barrier: Integration by preparation?

battle.net, china, garena, hosting problem, integration, preparation, waaagh arena

Patience and luck is what a clanwar with Chinese and European players needs - especially wNv suffers from bad conditions in their clanwars. Germany Perdita takes a closer look into the problem and tries to improve the situation by perfect preparation and choice of hosting programs.

What hosting technology is best? Battle.Net, G-Arena and WaaaghArena offer different ingame conditions and got several features to improve the perfomance. Besides taking a closer look into these hosting programs, questions about routing, finding a good host and the best starting time of clanwars are answered.

cant believe wc3 has so many hosting issues, i'd expect more from "progaming" scene, from what i noticed several top class europeans have a bad reputation for the way they treat hosts and attitude in general, guess that could be one of the problems2

Definitely, a lot of problems with the international esports scene stem from a lack of professionalism on all sides.

I watched some weeks ago a replay in which ToD obsed a game and he insulted the neutral host telling him he had nothing to do when he was hosting for his teammate, elfi. That's not nice at all... he apologized later, anyway. Hope this will be sorted out sometime soon...

that was one of the names i had in mind, though i never witnessed or saw any evidence of him being bm i did hear from many people that him and some more top class europeans are..not nice? :)

such people require professional help, anyway if i was a neutral host i'd love to see some of those irrelevant people putting me down as if i was some peasant, a slave to them.

In my humble opinion, being a better player doesn't mean one is a better person than another nor deserves special treatment at all.

exactly my point, just because you are good in some game doesnt mean you are better than another man or deserve greater respect - players think they are gods but what they dont realise is what a big illusion it is - imagine tod coming to counter-strike or starcraft players, would they even slightly care? who the hell is he anyway?

if anything top class(and players in general) should be thankful for these hosts, nobody sais they have to wake up at 4am to host games for some people, but they feel privileged to do so or whatever the reasons are - and what do they get in return? "hush boy, nobody asked you to do anything more than being a host and keeping your mouth shut"

If force won't work, use greater force.

It's definitely a large problem, and the biggest issue is that one team can affect every other team. If a host has an issue with one team, then he might stop hosting and now everyone is out a host.

Larger teams are still able to find hosts, because people feel 'privileged' to host for them. Small teams on the other hand are not so lucky and need to depend on hosts that are doing it to be nice or because they love the game.

It's really quite a shame.

Very interesting article. I had heard about hosting issues before, but it's really nice to have it all explained in such detail. GJ!

Perhaps, since this deals mostly with Warcraft 3, it could also show on the WC3 main page, instead of just 'all or none'?
